A look at how RSAF's upcoming F-35 fighter jets will be refuelled mid-air

While the Republic of Singapore Air Force is getting a good look at the F-35 fighter jets it is buying, it is already conducting mid-air refuelling exercises to keep the aircraft longer in the sky. Singapore's newest tanker is making its first ever appearance in Exercise Pitch Black in Darwin. The A330 MRTT conducts mid-air refuelling so aircraft can stay longer up in the sky in large-scale combat training scenarios, for example. Exercises like these have given more insights to the F-35Bs especially as they are set to be delivered in four years.

Let’s hope that SG won’t get carried away with some of these US fighter jets f35 added to their airforce, after all, the island has a very tiny air space for these latest jets to even fly around, let alone in an actual combat situation b4 venturing into other nations’ air space, creating more hostilities than necessary. Besides, SG could better safeguard its sovereignty by trying harder to keep its neutrality intact , in the midst of a geopolitical war between the superpowers.
@adelinec1031
@adelinec1031 2 жыл бұрын
In modern politics, things are seemingly only defined as black or white, left or right. Staying neutral is also viewed as taking sides by Taiwan and China netizens. To TW, we are "亲中" and "白眼狼", and to CN, it's "反华" and "亲美“. 😂
@bens4801
@bens4801 2 жыл бұрын
You keep neutrality by being un-invadable which is achieved by being a heavily militarized society. Look at Israel and Switzerland, tiny countries and surrounded by potentially hostile actors just like Singapore but have heavy militarized people and mandatory draft. These nations would have been annexed long ago had they not armed themselves.

The US are not phasing them out. They have the largest order book for them. Anf from the latest procurements: “An evaluation has revealed that these two systems [F-35A and Patriot] offer the highest overall benefit at the lowest overall cost." - Switzerland. “The F-35 was the cheapest in terms of purchase price... None of the [other] bids were significantly cheaper in terms of operating and maintenance costs.” - Finland.

@gnivrihog
@gnivrihog 2 жыл бұрын
The F35 is built in the US and they have to fly the jet all the way back to Singapore and there is no way we can take refueling pit stops along the way so mid air refueling is the only option. The long trip from US to SG is also a good time to test the jet's mechanical and operational capabilities. The same was done for the F15 and F16 back when we bought those new from the US.

@@greatasia606 nah, if things happened as what you said, they would most likely take out Malaysia. Shielded by allies Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos up north, Hainan island and SCS bases will blockade Vietnam and US, should US decide to try their luck using Vietnam bases as launching pads. Malaysia has access to Indian Ocean to the left and SCS on the right. Holding firm means reinforcements can’t get through Malacca Straits. Also, Malaysia has weaker military than most in SEA, easy meat, than to clash with a far out locality as Singapore, and the control of the seas is more limited.
