I give a video tour of my 2017 C-Max Energi as well as a very basic comparison between it and my 2015 Volt that I traded for it.

Great video 👍. Just a word to the wise from a former fusion energy owner; watch out for snow! Because the extra battery is in the back, you can get stuck in the snow or mud. Also, Ford did not improve the rear shocks, and i blew out one of my shocks (R rear) because of the extra battery weight, and the center of gravity is also way too high! Other than that I loved it.

Thanks for that information. It's amazing that car manufacturer's sometimes overlook the obvious such as beefed up shocks when adding weight to the rear end.

Your fusion is completely different from a CMAX. I've been driving CMAX since late 2012. I've had 4 of them in total and live in Canada. I've Happily passed many 4x4 in the ditch on my way. I have never once been stuck in 12 years, nor has my wife who also drives one. CMAX sits up higher than a fusion. Plus having the battery in the back gives better weight distribution than most cars can dream of. They are tanks. Maybe you need a remedial driving course. These cars aren't perfect but go straight down the street better than almost anything in any weather condition

This is the best full video I’ve seen on a c max. What’s crazy is I’m looking at a used one in 2022 and it’s a good deal at 23k. The use Prius and volts are selling for more than they stickers for originally

One of my favorite cars I've owned. The only negative and it was a big one; the battery was so freaking small. Still, even with the small battery, I sometimes wish I had it instead of my Volt. I know most would think that makes me insane but with the same size battery and if it were liquid cooled then call me crazy but I'm choosing the C-Max Energi over the Volt.

Yeah the mirrors are great on the cmax. I had a 2013 cmax sel with the power lift gate where you kick your foot under it and it opens. I regret selling it for next to nothing. Last owner abused it because the suspension was rough. But that girl moved! Very spacious car and good cargo room. Liked the mood lighting too. And the Sony sound system was amazing. You made a good choice. It'll be reliable for you. I own a 2019 fusion hybrid and a 2005 prius right now. 😂 I love hybrids

My friend has a non plugin version and I had to drive her to a doctor appointment, once, and when we got to the office, the screen stated that I was getting 201 mpg. Then when I drove her home, it stated that I was getting 36 mpg. It confused the heck of me. But it sure is a smooth driving car.
@ArkansasEV

Perhaps it was downhill on the way to the Doctors office. Even a slight decline in slow traffic and that might be possible. But, on the way back an incline. 36 MPG is really close to what I average when I run out of battery.

Lifetime in two regular CMax, 39 and 40 mpg. Mostly highway miles commuter. Two CMAX energy 52mpg commuting, many miles, the other 91 mpg most around town. Saved a mountain of gas money. Extremely reliable as they stole the Toyota setup in these cars

As long as you're happy with it, that's all that matters. Can't see me giving up my 2015 Volt Premier, liked it so much I bought my wife a 2013 a month later. Both get around 40 miles on electric, and 40 mpg on gas. My '01 2500HD Duramax takes care of everything a car can't, and gets 20-25 mpg doing it.
@ArkansasEV
@ArkansasEV 3 жыл бұрын
That's better MPG than I would've thought for a Duramax. My wife got a new Silverado in July and we are averaging 22 or 23 MPG and that surprises me but it's a small engine. We don't need much hauling weight. She just likes trucks. So do I but I prefer electric.
@GrandPrix46

@@ArkansasEV yeah I'm pretty happy with it seeing as the truck has 370k miles and a 50 gallon auxiliary tank in the bed (350 lbs of diesel + 100 lbs of tank). I'm pretty meticulous with maintenance on it and I have a light foot so that helps I'm sure. Also stock height and stock wheels/tires.

One thing I have yet to find anywhere about the C-Max is the actual height, width and depth of the cargo space with back seats down and up. Everyone including Ford wants to give you cubic feet which is great for comparing cars but doesn't tell you a thing about the actual dimensions of the cargo you can carry. I wish someone would actually put a tape measure on it. I am considering the regular C-Max so I don't need to worry about the extra battery taking up cargo space. The hatch opening height to floor and to the threshold are the most important dimensions to me.
@gcanada3005

Regular CMax same as an Escape. Energi loses much space due to the battery being in the hatch

I now own a 2017 Ford C-Max. I want to know how many times I need to charge it a month. I want to save battery life? The second question is normal if you charge it and there is rain 🌧
@ArkansasEV
@ArkansasEV 3 ай бұрын
You can charge in the rain. If it were mine I'd just charge it every day but I'm not saying that'd be best for it. I don't know but that's what I'd do. If I were concerned then I'd skip charging it in winter because the range is pretty bad anyway when it's really cold out so it doesn't matter as much. One day my wife got I think 9 or 10 measly miles on a bitter cold day.

Question if you do not mind. How much was it and with how many miles did it have? This car is both electric and gas? So it is not a hybrid where while it is running on gas it does not charge the battery? Did your electric bill go up and how long does it take to fully charge the battery? Thanks and congrats!
@ArkansasEV
@ArkansasEV 3 жыл бұрын
I can't remember what I paid. I looked for the paperwork the other day and can't find it. I'm thinking it was high 14's or low 15's. This is a hybrid with an extra large battery meaning in non winter depending on many factors you should get 20-25 miles of all electric and then it functions like any other hybrid. In winter however, it gets 8-15 and most times 8-12 miles of all electric. That is why I've already sold it. Carvana picked it up yesterday and paid me for it. Tomorrow I'm going 4 1/2 hours away to buy a Chevy Bolt which is 100% electric and about 200 miles of range in non winter. My electric bill didn't go up any that I could notice. This car has about a 5 1/2 KWH battery and each KWH cost 8 cents where I live. Charging time depends on if you have a 220 or 110. With my 220 it took about 2 hours to fully charge it. With a 110 I'd guess it'd take 6 hours but that's just a guess.

I have a 2014 C-max Energi Titanium and it has been a great car. Over 32k miles I have average 76 mpg. Now I am thinking of upgrading to a Chevy Volt 2017 or newer. I might consider 2017 C-max. How does the C-max compare to the Volt?

I am as poor as Job's turkey as my Grandmother used to say. That's why I'm not doing a video on my new Tesla or Mustang Electric. I considered my Volt to be quite reliable. The heater went out 9 day after owning it but the warranty company through Carvana fixed it. That's the only problem I had with it mechanically.
