My mother (born in Sal, Cape Verde) always talked about her 'Morrocan Jewish (from Rabat)" side of her dad's family. Don't come talking about Zionist propaganda and all these conspiracy theories., etc. As far as i can can understand, those Morrocan/Sephardi Jewish clans (Wahnon, Cohen, Levy, etc) were very important to the development ( incl,.social, educational, healthcare, culture, business, trade, logistics, tourism and more) of those islands, which were left to almost abandonment by the Portuguese. And those Jews mixed and integrated with creoules/blacks (aka locals), including having families. There's a lot of 'Jewish blood' in Cape Verdean people these days. And it's all positive my friends. the jewish presence in cape verde dates from the inquisition in the 16th century at this time the king of portugal expelled hundreds of thousands of jews in capvert and sao tomé conclusion the cape Verdean people have ancestors of the Jewish faith without even knowing it, then in the 19th century, thousands of other Jews from Morocco settled in Cape Verde

@@Stephanie-te9rc Without a doubt a Sephardic Jewish name, check the meaning of the name, and understand why there's so many Delgados throughout Spanish and Portuguese ex colonies, because Jews fled to those places to avoid Inquisition.

Interesting history, because so many children were removed from their Jewish Parents in nearby Islands. It makes us ask about their survivor's benefits and how Sao Tome is a strategic location to the many cases of abuse throughout the regions.

I believe though I'm not sure the jewish kids were taken from their parents for whatever reasons in Portugal. their names are { FURTADO } which means stolen. but you need to remember history is not accurate we are only getting broken stories.
