Thanks. I'm currently looking into Trickers a lot. They have some interesting options. Price is tricky, but occasionally good deals can be found. I almost ordered a Robert in gray suede last year that was on clearance, but it sold out.

I saw that, but I really want a gray suede (not the sand). But I want to ask you, is the Robert last very roomy at the instep and ball? There's a pair on Ebay in gray suede, but it's 1/2 size larger than my usual size. It's a very good price, but not sure if the fit will be too large.

@@chalkboardshoes The honest answer is I don’t know. My shoe size is UK 9 and my tricker Stows fit perfectly, as my feet are flat and wide, with plenty of room at the instep and ball. I do believe that there will be plenty of room at the instep and ball and that perhaps the 1/2 size larger than your normal size maybe too big for you. Trickers in general fit my wide feet really well.

Been toying with a big splurge on a C&J shoe. However I love the AE 65 last, it fits so well and some other AE lasts do not fit me well. Honestly If I am going to spend 700-800 dollars on C&J I am going to take a discount flight to NYC for a day trip to go to their store and try different shoes and lasts on. Right now that would include the 325,375,335 and 341 lasts from C&J.

I had a lot of difficulty with C&J lasts, and I am also one who fits really well into the 65 last. It's tough to really try C&J, so I hear ya.

Forgot to add: I know you replaced the original laces from C&J but given your positive experience w/ their UK retail outlet, I recommend letting them know the laces included were too short. My guess is they will send you a pair 5cm longer (or perhaps 10) free of charge. It’s worth a try!

It’s not the leather it’s the wax finish. Your aldens are in different leather so you do not see it on them as much. Good review You point out all the necessary last details. I just found this last for myself. One other last that works even better for my feet is the 365 E but 1/2 size smaller than 378
