Absolutely getting the Gill! I wrote to US Games and asked how to buy a copy in Britain. They wrote back and gave me one possible distributor: www.davidwestnedge.com, and later in the month I will contact him. or, maybe we can get it easily from the other on-line bookstores in time. Patience and Trust - are my mantras for 2018! Would like to see the 'Mystic Tarot' reprinted as it was originally. Luckily I got the old version with book, but I don't like what they have done with it in the new version. The book of 'Spiral Tarot' of course, and please re-print the deck without borders with a nice, perhaps small silver title on it. My!! I just spent £xx (too much!!) on that book because I NEED it, and waiting several weeks for the arrival - talk about obsession!! But when I got the Spiral Tarot deck, inspired by you, Katey, I was in tears! Maybe it is my 'soul-deck', but I think I like the Gill tarot even more! And now, Thank you for sharing the Gill tarot, it touched me deeply to see the images, like wanting to cry for no reason, so beautiful! The artist really has a great taste for colouring!

I just wanted to say I love your videos, at first I couldn’t tell why I was so drawn to your channel, now to the point where I exclusively watch your vids and don’t really watch anyone else’s, but I think it’s because I feel like connect better with you and what you have to say. I too suffer from several mental illnesses and hearing you talk about your journey and recovery and treatment has resonated with me. I love your passion for your decks, we have very different aesthetics but are similar in our devotion. Thank you for this video. I had this deck and used it along with the SOL deck when I was a student of the SOL many years ago. All of my tarot decks were lost in a move so I’m glad to hear that the Gill is available again.

This was the first tarot deck/book set I bought....many years ago, probably when it was first published. I still have the deck and book. It has been set aside all this time but I've felt a pull the past few weeks to turn back to my cards. I am excited to have come across this video just tonight. I am looking forward to turning back in order to move ahead. I shall treasure this set even more now that I know it is a special one to someone as versed in the tarot as yourself.

Thank you for this walkthrough of a lovely tarot deck that I just stumbled upn this morning with your video popping up. Though symbolism feels very intriguing to me, I tend to get easily overwhelmed with too many details and symbols and very lengthy interpretations on any given tarot deck as a rookie 😏So, a deck that can be used more intuitively as you describe it, might be helpful for me at this stage. The related book is nowadays available as a very affordable kindle edition, too (2,99 EUR) 💖Elizabeth's interpretation on the Fool alone is highly informative and already links to its meaning in relation to the tree of life. Very interesting, indeed. Thanks again for sharing your much treasured deck with us here 🤗 P.S. I absolutely loved your interpretation of The Lovers and The Devil next to each other or in juxtaposition. Absolutely striking, beautiful ❤‍🔥It seems to depict the eternal struggle or the balance 'needed' between the feminine and the masculine. i am so stoked here's my story on this deck, years ago when i first started reading tarot cards in 1992 i fell in love with my first deck ( i cant remember the name of the deck ) but i trained myself everyday i studied the cards and read the guide book well due to unfortunate events i lost my tarot cards and the deck talk about devastation. i was so sad in 1993 my best friend brought me the gill tarot deck i used it a quite often but i was in a very abusive relationship so i packed the deck up and never used it again. i moved 6 times and brought the deck with me on all my moves the very last time i moved was in 2011 and my cards stayed stored in a storage room in 2017 my children was moving to there own place and while going through the storage bins my daughter found my gill tarot deck the sad thing is the box and the guide book could not be found but i had this deck since 1993 it has been with me all those years and it is such a beautiful deck im a little sad i dont have the box or the guide....but it is part of my tarot collection for sure :)

So happy to see you talking about this deck finally! I almost peed myself when I saw its being reprinted. I tried to tag you in the post but it didnt work so I figured out you will see it eventually. It is a an elemental deck connected to numerology, two things I really love. This deck is one of those decks where I like the minors a way better than the majors although they are very beautiful too. The Empress for example is just gorgeous. But the minors are so clever and so well done. I will be waiting for the deck to come on bookdepository & co.

Katey: First of all, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge of all things tarot here on this forum. I came across my Gill Tarot deck the other evening after nearly 30 years of it being tucked away. I bought it in 1990, when it was first published, along with the book. I have a question I hope you are open to sharing your thoughts about. I bought this deck then promptly wrote in the margin of every card (all the way around the white frame) information I found in the guidebook which would help me interpret the cards...but then I put them away. I want to revisit my interest in tarot and I want to start with this deck, but the issue I am having is that I am finding the words I've written around each card are more distractive than helpful to me now. I've been binge watching your videos for a couple of days now (and learning SO much...thank you!) so I know you sometimes trim your cards. This deck would be conducive to trimming and it would help me focus more on the meaning of the cards, I think. But I am hesitant to cut the cards...it feels like I would be destroying them or something. Do you think I should trim off all the wording I wrote on the cards or should I leave them as they are and try to work around them? Thank you for any thoughts you might help me with. I am loving learning from you...your videos are thorough and fascinating! :-)

Yes, Thoth because it's Kabbalistic. Many of the keywords are the same across the two decks, some are not and some keywords are the same but on different pip cards! It doesn't really work reading it as RWS because of this (the card meanings are quite different in many cases) - but obviously the keywords are useful in this respect while learning how the cards map onto the Tree of Life. I love this deck because I'm intrigued by the Kabbalistic meanings but Crowley doesn't appeal to me. None of this is to say that the RWS can't be linked to the Kabbalah, because it can and that was how Waite saw it. But because the Gill Tarot is specifically a Kabbalistic deck, it's a really exciting opportunity (imo) to expand one's understanding. I hope you're still enjoying working with it 😍

I commented before but I really really love this deck. The art reminds me a bit of the aura soma art. (Except not as busy). I feel like I would read for others with this deck because it feels like a really chatty, open deck to me. Personally I think this deck is more rws than thoth... the only thing that makes it like thoth are that it's kabalistic and maybe because the minors are more abstract.

SOME of the keywords are Thoth, some are not. I do like that the deck seems to blend together all the major systems, some keywords from Thoth, as well as some of the color theory and of course Kabala (I'm never sure how to spell that) a little bit of scenic, some of the courts seem classic, but different...great deck for sure. I know what you mean when you say, it's a "special" deck to you...sometimes that happens for no real/good reason - like meeting someone who you'd never seek out, but they become a close/special friend.

This deck is not styled after Thoth. For example, in Thoth, Strength is at 11 while Justice is at 8. These are called Lust and Adjustment respectively in Thoth. Temperance is called Art in Thoth. The Knights (Kings) are active, on horseback. The keywords in the minors are very different. This is more like RWS. Still it’s a very cool and unique deck. Some few cards I love, most of the others just leave me flat. I really don’t like the minors in this deck. Of course those really beautiful Empress, Hermit, Fool, Star, Moon, Priest, Strength and Priestess are the most beautiful ever. Similar to Thoth is the sun behind the fool rather than shining on him from above. Also replacing the Page with the Princess.

Rowan Hagen interesting. US Games does have a picture of the backing on their preorder, so it seems strange they would change the backing to something else. There is a green card with a spread on it, it’s one the the extra cards that I seem to have misplaced. Is that the image you were talking about? Or have you seen something else somewhere else online?
