A look at the old station buildings from Portadown to Dungannon

In my video tracing the route from Portadown to Dungannon I neglected to stop at the stations! Here's a quick look at the station buildings, and the links below are for the Wikipedia pages for each. I highly recommend the article from the Craigavon Historical Society about the magnificent old Portadown station in the 1940s.

I have been researching the murder of Minnie Reid, the last place she was seen alive was Vernersbridge station. At the time of her murder she was unmarried and 8 months pregnant, she had travelled from Portadown to Vernersbridge, to meet her unborn babies father Harold Courtney from Dungannon, he met her and cut her throat and dumped her body close to Peatlands Park. He was hung in Crumlin Road jail in April 1933 for murdering Minnie. I wanted a sense of Minnie's last journey, which is how I arrived at your video, so thank you for making it. The viaduct at Vernersbridge station can still be seen from Google Earth, or rather whats left of it. The old railways carried so much of our history.

Electrical company I used to work at from 2001-2003 had its office in the Annaghmore Station building. The building in yor pitcure which was demolished, was indeed a car dealership, Renault i think. The station building was in an average condition when I worked there. Back then, i never really looked around as much as I would do now, i was in my late teens/early 20s and so didnt really care. But i think it still had the hatch in what must have been the ticket office. Round the back was a storeroom, accessed down a ramp. It must have sat on the original line. Sadly now, it too has been demolished and the entire site is now a housing development!

My da often talks about Selshion moss, he spent all his childhood there, he also worked as a fireman on the steam engines when he was a kid.

Compared to the station portadown had the present station is a modern monstrosity.

They should think very hard to get these lines all reopened again should not have closeddown

All should be brought back to stop 1) Pollution, 2) Car Accidents/Road Deaths & 3) Pollution.

Its a crime to erase our heritage like they do and replace old irreplaceable buildings with ugliness
