There are so many songs that weren't included in this too! There's a reprise of the main song that's great, a few linguini and remy numbers, a second verse to the dad's song, and one person has been trying to write herself in as his dead mom's ghost guiding him from beyond the grave which doesn't work in the musical but is still kind of hilarious

Okay but my favorite ratatouille the musical song is Anyone Can Cook, written and preform by Kevin Chamberlin as Gusteau

Honestly, Anton Ego seems like his numbers would be very talk singy, until the end, when he has the Ratatouille, when he starts singing in the more classic sense of the term. Like, playing into the term of "if music be the food of love", but switching it so that all Anton was missing was the kind of food Remy made. Also, yes, Camille deserves a whole patter song in the instruction of Linguni. also, Linguni and Remy need to have a song where they have a counter melody, since they are speaking two different languages, with Remy being the one to end any dissonance that may come up. Also, Gusteau needs to be the one to really carry the French themes throughout the show, with the love songs also having a hint of it

Act 2 must open with a useless comedy number where Linguine/the audience are introduced to all the chefs and their quirks

Pixar, yes. Disney literally musicalized Toy Story and Finding Nemo, and they LOVE their musical fans!!

I also think that Skinner and the chef that killed a man with his thumb shouldn’t be left out of this show, even if they have minor parts. I also think it would be cool to carry musical motifs and ideas for each key character and quote, like obviously “remy the ratatouille” and “anyone can cook” Ego’s flashback should be emphasized, maybe introducing a more nostalgic version of his character’s theme, and a change in the lighting and set. His review should also be a big moment in the show where he truly stops being a bitter critic and learns that not all that’s new is bad. Here’s a rough draft I wrote of what the end of what that song could be like: Not anyone can be an artist But an artist can come from anywhere Cause it’s not all about your background It’s about how much you care I turned a blind eye for so long Not venturing a closer look But I now understand what the old legend meant Anyone can cook This show would have so many themes that people would be able to walk out of it, all of them with a different experience, which is part of the magic of theatre. Ideas like: you can rise above your background, and, change is nature, could really be interesting things to see explored in a musical that started as a meme.

I know I'm really late to this party but I've seen no talk about Chef Skinner at all in terms of the musical. I'd love to see a song from him conspiring about how Linguini became a stellar cook in what seems like an instant or especially a song adaptation of the scene in which Skinner invites Linguini to his office for some wine so Skinner can try and get the truth out of him. There could be some amazing back and forth that soon turns into gibberish from Linguini after a few too many drinks.

On a side note, TikTok just started a musical for Bridgerton (the Netflix show) and it is BLOWING UP. I dare you to check it out (but watch Bridgerton first - the whole first season is up)
