The Kelvin's dish, despite having a greater diameter than the Enterprise, has the same height. Or "thickness." That could be one reference point to start from when determining size. As for the argument of "the Enterprise is newer, it should be bigger," I think it's more like the Enterprise is a modern frigate while the Kelvin is a ww2 aircraft carrier. Or look at phones, going from "the brick" with an antenna to a smartphone with no antenna yet greater signal. It's smaller, more sleek, more compact.

To be clear though, the Narada is enhanced with borg technology, that was mixed with romulan tech hence the very spiky nature of the vessel.

The JJ or Kelvin timeline is Stat Trek as imagined and presented by a die hard Star Wars fan. JJ Trek is not Star Trek.
