I would prefer to have done my homework before being interviewed by that man. I measure every reporter by that standard. One awesome journalist.

@Kevin Hayes Too bad we don't have you as a star reporter on telly, then. Because you really would wipe the floor whit anyone, am I right?

Mr. Wallace was one of the last great journalist of my time, and a truly brave seeker and disseminator of truth.

Funny thing is, back then there were many who derided Mike Wallace as being a sensationalist who came from hosting a game show. When Harry Reasoner died, Andy Rooney said there are "two real journalists at 60 Minutes and Harry Reasoner was one of them." I strongly suspect the other was Morley Safer but obviously can't prove it.

He was a tough, good reporter. However, too often he was simply hostile and deliberately sought to hurt guests emotionally and psychologically. Classic examples are his interviews with Barbra Streisand and Maria Callas. Much of his "success" came from this uncomfortable yet sensationalistic prodding.

Wallace was tough as nails. This guy pulled no punches in interviews - he wanted the true responses from people and often got them. But he also dealt with personal tragedy: one of his sons died while rock-climbing and he was the one who retrieved the body.

Look at Nancy Reagan's eyes at 1:30....like daggers. Well, Nancy, if you and your husband weren't so greedy as to take $2 million for a couple of speaking engagements, you wouldn't have to be asked that question.
