A Look Back at My Traveler's Notebooks

Hello again,
I've enjoyed seeing all of the fun unboxings of the new Traveler's Company limited edition TNs. Who doesn't enjoy a good theme? And although I won't be purchasing any new sets, it got me thinking about the TNs that I own and love. This is where I started my dive into fountain pens and other leather covers, and I'm so happy to be part of this wonderful community. I hope you enjoy this walk down memory lane with me. I’m not a fan of the special editions because I don’t love the printing onto the actual cover. I prefer it to be plain and get scuffs and marks as I use it. I would love writer themed accessories though and either olive or a natural undyed leather cover in the passport size.

I know! I love seeing how my covers have changed. But if the theme fits well with your personality, then that definitely helps. An undyed leather would also be interesting. :) Thanks so much for watching!

I love the record set because of the debossed embellishment and the stamps. An olive passport, book themed…or journaling theme…would be a perfect fit for me too. 🥰

I have ordered the hotel one. I like the music theme more but I love standard size. A book/journal theme or coffee theme would be perfect for me! I enjoyed your video as always, Ali x

Thank you so much for watching! I noticed that many people said they liked different items from each set. So being able to choose might have also been a nice option. But I know that's not how limited editions work. >.

I’m not getting anything either but feeling left out too! If they had book themed and olive then omg instant buy, it would be my dream planner/TN. 🤞🏻🤞🏻 for the next time they bring out limited edition they do that, I’m so gutted I missed out on olive the first time around

Same!!! I would want it to be in a passport so it could come with book theme stamps. >.< But any size would be great. I hope they do release an olive again. I feel like a lot of people missed out on it.

I’d love an olive passport, my olive standard size is still my favorite one - probably because it’s my first so it’s extra special. I also hoped for a book theme since they had it as a yearly accessory theme. I have mainly fabric TN styles and a few Webster’s Pages too, they actually do hold up to some usage. More than I expected. I’m only recently getting into leather covers. I got my second last fall and now have quickly gotten an embarrassing number in quick succession.

An olive passport would be fantastic. I use a camel as a wallet and would definitely get an olive to rotate in. I kept watching the new editions, waiting to feel the pull. The pull never came, for any of them. If there had been a sticker-only option, I would have been all over that. Come to think of it, I've re-homed every limited item I've had from them except one. I still have my Ace Hotel. The standard brown was my first experience with TC in 2016, and it's the one I always go back to.

Yes! I hope they bring out an Olive passport one day. Oooh! Sticker-only option, that would be nice. What do you use your Brown TN for, planning or journaling?

@@InsideKimmysMind It's my EDC, so mostly planning. I have the dated monthly insert, an insert for long-term lists, and a third insert for bullet journal-style rapid logging. I do some simple journaling in that one, mostly just snippets of things that happened that day.

I’m late to the party. So I’ve only been able to find the suede-textured camel ones in either size. Not a fan. But I do have a brown standard size which, so far, is reaching a nice patina. I’m resigned to the fact that the smooth camel is no more. The Chic Sparrow pocket size covers are growing on me, however.

Oh, I didn't realize the textures had changed that much. Chic Sparrow has a lot of great leather. I had a few of their covers for a time. I am excited about the Olive Passport that releases next month. I'm glad Traveler's Company released Olive as a standard color. Finally! :)

I loved your perspective on TNs! In Poland TRC is basically the only reachable brand (still happy we can get hobonichi lately too) - I have my fav Chic Sparrow in my bookmarks and I keep looking at it sometimes haha. Im thinking of selling my camel standard TN as I didn't fell in love with the one particular piece of leather I got - I think I will buy a new one and sell the one I'm least drawn to in the end.

Oh wow, a Travelers‘ Company Limited Edition with an author/writing theme would be a dream! Reading would also be amazing as a theme - I did love the 2021 pencil board with the “travelling through books” theme they had. I think I‘d prefer something in the Camel colour and Standard size, but I do love olive, too. In the end, I didn’t buy any of the Limited Editions this year, but I was definitely tempted by the Travelers‘ Records Passport TN. I love music, the charm and the stamps just look so neat and the debossing is lovely, too! Definitely thinking about setting up a Music BuJo to accompany my Book BuJo now.

I missed out on that pencil board theme. But even though we didn't get these special releases, we are still inspired by them and are reminded why we even like journaling/planning. :)

Thank you for sharing your thoughts and your TNs .😊 From the initial sneak peek 🫣 for the “keep travel on your mind” sets I was hoping they would be curated collections of journaling supplies vs 4 new covers. I still managed to bring all 4 home with me 🙉🙈🙊A book themed cover is a dreamy idea to be sure! I was really hoping they would release a red cover when Tokyo hosted the Olympics. Design Phil who is TRC’s parent corp. also owns Plotter (which is essentially a slim ringed version of TN though it’s offered in different dimensions) I’m assuming the leather is sourced and prepped in the same facilities in Thailand and they have a beautiful burgundy red that I really wish could also be released in TRC realm. Umm if we’re going with the world is your oyster dream big I’d love a dirigible/airship themed collection or cover which could lean into a steampunk theme or just vintage travel theme. 😊 A Beatles Yellow Submarine edition would be pretty fabulous 🤩could be a yellow cover or yellow embossing on the blue would look sharp too. A tiny house collection could a very fun concept to explore too. Time travel theme would also be super cool. I could riff and daydream all day so I’ll stop here. I got the travelers records camel passport, and the travelers hotel in brown standard. I have a passport in blue coming from Baum-kuchen where I used the truly yours service and had riviets added to each corner. I have a blue and camel in the standard size also. I dont have any travelers company notebooks on black because Ive heard it doesn't age the same by showing scratches etc. I also started with a webster pages in pink, its still in the box for the same reason as you stated. I went down the chic sparrow rabbit hole and have about 20 of those. I have a moterm with my hobo weeks in it. And Ive purchased 3 sojourner notebooks and onto get a 4th. I am also venturing to make my own notebooks in leather. I missed out on the olive color as I hadn't discovered Travelers company yet but I WOULD LOVE AN OLIVE colored one. I bought an olive colored notebook from sojourner in the nubuck leather which is soft and suede and wont show age but its such a pretty dusty gray olive color. I agree with you on the book theme. I wanted to reach out to the travelers company with a request (or petition) asking to bring the olive back. I also thought a road trip series would be cool with an old woody wagoneer or jeep an RV or scamp, a motorcycle, a van etc.

Road trip series would be a fun theme! It's so great, that's what I love about this community. So many great makers that create covers that fit an array of styles for everyone. I do hope Traveler's Company will come out with more themes in the future. :)

It's nice to fall back in love with the items you already own. The Blue is so pretty. Did you set it up as a journal or planner? Or something else entirely? The Pocket Chic Sparrow is a Col. Brandon from the Austen leather. I'm not sure if it has been retired. Thanks for watching!
