Stacey, there is a budget advisor who is very well known in NZ. Giving others advise and she is bankrupt because she lived an excessive life with minimal financial income. She is still giving out advise. And selling that advice. SHE is a scammer. YOU are the real deal and your viewers so appreciate your hard work and honesty. Love your channel and guidance. Thank you.

Would like to add what I do for freezing meat that I found to be a big money saver. I used to spend big money to wrap meat for the freezer. That’s until I discovered what here is called “Press and seal”. Comes in a roll and basically just tear off a sheet large enough to fold over the portion completely. Then press out all the air as you fold it. Then I store those portions into a large freezer storage bag. The meet seems to taste much fresher now. And now that the meat isn’t touching the inside of the bag, no washing is needed to reuse the bags. So I save money on freezer bags too. 😁

Great vid, always good to see what others are doing. I'm organic, so always buy in bulk to keep prices down and what I cant buy in bulk I buy in glass, so like Money Karma everything I store is in glass, in fact I will often buy a product because of the jar. I also weekly go through specials from IGA, Coles and Woolies and only buy there 1/2 price specials, which is a great way to stock up on non perishables. fortunately I have being putting aside food for years, so there is no pressure to buy anything unless it is well discounted. Just wanted to add that its actually 2 tsps baking powder to 1 cup of flour to make S.R flour. You are looking really great Stacey, keep up the fantastic work.

Dear Stacey, about freezing Pesto! I went to a baby store and purchased those wee containers that you freeze baby food in. They make a perfect amount for most recipe. They have the soft bottoms that you can push the pucks out into Ziplocs and Voila you just pull one or two out whenever you need them! I make my own mustard but I add Whiskey, hubby has it with steak, blue cheese (his fave) and cold cuts. It also makes a lovely gift to give to friends and family. ❤️❤️❤️

@nzmoneykarma Your pantry looks so tidy!! I got a few tips: I use LSA as well, but found it got very expensive. I now buy the seeds separately (linseed, sunflower, and almond) and whizz them up myself. I use an old electric coffee grinder for that. It saves me SO much money! I also keep my flours in a zip lock bag, freeze them to kill off bugs, and store them together in a big airtight container. You can freeze your brie, but I'd put a layer of plastic around them, so they don't dry out and get crumbly! I'll be checking out your channel next...

I loved the ‘husband wouldn’t like that’ with the grimace, I have started cooking with lentils because meat is so expensive, exactly the same here in my house so I cook a steak for husband and yet my husband has baked beans from the tin all the time, there is a great Thermomix recipe for baked beans which I love but ‘it isn’t the same’ according to husband! I have ended up with a far larger fridge freezer than two people need because our hot summers in Australia ruin many pantry items, so into the fridge they go, must start portion freezing tomato paste and curry pastes though, it’s a great idea.👍🌏

You mention grating and freezing ginger, I guess the same goes for garlic? I've always grated it (actually very finely chopped) and covered it with olive oil in a jar. It's easy to put however much you want into your cooking then. I must try freezing it though. I do freeze tomato paste in ice cube trays to keep it. Again, dead easy to use as much or as little as you need. The idea of a viewer's kitchen series seems really good to me. Cheers!

A few suggestions.... Store whole wheat flour in the freezer unless you use it up quickly. Whole wheat flour can turn rancid very quickly. Just take out what you need a couple of hours before using. Leftover lasagna noodles can be broken up and used to make lasagna soup. Yeast should be stored in the freezer. You can use it straight from the freezer with no issues. To help avoid weevils, when you bring flour in from the store, place it in the freezer for several days. Bring out the bag and let it sit on the counter for a day to come back to room temperature then store as usual. This will kill off any possible pest eggs that might be in it. Check KZbin for bread that's made from lentils for a way to use them up. The onions that are sprouting can be chopped up and frozen to keep them from spoiling. Love your pantry! I strive for that type of organization but it never becomes reality 😔. Have a blessed day 💕

Don't buy food grade storage buckets!! Ask at bakeries (independent and in-store) and cake shops. The white and pink icing they use on finger buns etc comes in extra large food grade buckets, and they get thrown away when empty. Because the icings are a liquid, the lids are really tight fitting. I can get 5kg of flour, sugar or rice into one. 8 Packets of pasta will also fit. They're also terrific if you brine for pickling.

I finally went through my shelf & top drawer & cleaned out all my herbs & spices this week as most of them had been either used or unused but sitting in my kitchen now for over 10 years as I don't use them anymore not having a family to cook for. I buy my garlic from woollies as a bottle of minced & that way it only takes me a year or two at most to consume & my onion I now buy frozen from Woolies as it is cheaper & already chopped up for me. Actually it was good to finally clean out the drawer & assess what I actually had in it that I would consume as I had bought a number of products to try when I first found out that my constant sickness was caused by the gluten I was eating in my breads, cakes etc. However, gluten free cooking is not easy nor always very tasty when it is successful, so it didn't take more than a year or two to decide to abandon it & stick to plain simple food that I could purchase & steam that is, veggies & salads with the occasional loaf of gluten free bread toasted, otherwise plain rice cakes. Now I just have to clean out my pantry of all the bags of stuff I bought but have never used & they are all years out of date!! 🤣🤣🤣

Ki ora! Howdy Doody n G'day from over the ditch, yet another wonderful video Stacey! Love those nails!! How strange, I have just started cash stuffing about 1 week ago when I came across an Aussie mum who does frugal grocery hauls and cash stuffing - before this I never even heard of the concept although I do know my Dad when he was on this earth used to use envelope system but not like the way ppl are doing today.

I cut off the label from the grains and beans (and flours) and sticky tape the labels to the outside of the containers. Because there is absolutely no way I'll figure out what type of flour it is that I bought months ago.

@@Kiwi_Jo And...I have a fridge which needs sorting. Do you hire out? (I'm across the ditch in Oz though lol). Funniest comment I ever heard from someone when lockdown first happened; woman said "It IS the apocalypse! I cleaned my fridge out" when asked how she was amusing herself stuck at home. 🤣🤣

I am a widow and single mom, i buy in bigger packs of meat and split them into small portions for myself with my vaccum sealer. I also reuse all the glass jars i get from store brand foods to store my flour, pasta etc on. When i cook a dinner i have never been able to cook just for one so it works out because i end up with leftover freezer meals.

Lady Stacy - the mustard looks delish. Just got some mustard seeds to try this recipe. Question. My daughter would like to know where you get your jars from? In the states we do not, where we are, have anything like that style. I looked online but have yet to suss them out. Thank you.

Hello, and thanks for watching. The jars are from NZ and are called Goodlife they have a website under the same name. I'm thinking I might get some in stock but they might be expensive to send over.

Stacey I would love if you did some how to step by step pressure canning videos in the future sometime. I’ve only done it once and am not confident at all. Ive been doing Fowlers for many years but the next step seems so daunting. I would love to have baked beans and soups on hand (in the pantry rather than taking up freezer space). Anyway love your videos!

Thanks for reaching out. I actually already have quite a few canning videos out already but I am also planning on doing a beginner's one as well. Search for the baked beans one to start you off.
