I received a box of carvings from a gallery I displayed at for the past 13 years. I haven't seen some of these carvings for many years! Fun to experience them with you and my beautiful wife, Annalise!

Man o man, all I saw was great pieces of art. Don’t be so hard on yourself. Thanks for sharing. Tony.

I would proudly display any of those pieces. It's so funny how we are critical of ourselves, far more than we should be.

I don't hate the carvings as much as I let on! I enjoyed seeing these. Who else thinks it's bittersweet to see your old work! Love to relive the memories to see how much you've grown, but struggle when you know you could've done better!

At that time you didn't know how to do better. That why having past work is important. It shows you are growing.

Nice to see the brains and beauty part of this couple for a change! Yeah, I have a hard time looking at early works but it does allow me to see my own improvement over the years! That's the best outcome possible!

@@AlecLaCasseArt Alec I do believe the older we get our mind thinks differently so we think to do things like dating our carvings. But you do have a great talent. God bless.

Come on man, don't be so hard on yourself! Your first jobs are exceptional and already showed all the talent you've perfected over time! Listen to your wife and have fun with them, don't just look at your jobs with a critical and judgemental look, but as a part of that path that brought you to where you are now. You're great, keep it up ❤

At least all your early carvings didn’t look like Santa ! I’m still new to carving ( about 3 years into my hobby ) and I’ll start off carving a fisherman but it ends up being a Santa ! Thanks for sharing 👍

Alec , it’s terrible to belittle your early carvings. There just fine to me , first rule as a instructor only give positive criticism. Look how far you’ve come your work is amazing now. What you were saying is terrible could be someone’s best work.👍😇🇺🇸

I actually agree with you! I don't know why I was so down on myself! I guess it's because, at that time, I know I could have done better!

I know you are gifted with the eye ability and talent to produce wonderful works of art HOWEVER it is very discouraging to see you criticize your old work when I know that if I carve for a hundred more years, I will never produce something that good.

Nah man.. the only person you should compete with is yourself. If you can look back at your own carvings and see progression thats what it's all about whatever stage you're at.. I'm in a similar boat - nowhere near the stage of Alecs early carvings but.. maybe someday. Maybe never. I just need to improve my own stuff, enjoy the time doing it and the rest will follow.
