One of the BEST things about big ol' family O/O hobby shops is the ancient stuff, covered in dust, stuck way up on a top shelf, or tucked away in a back corner...stuff that would be 'rotated out' in a big commercial establishment...stuff that just sits there...waiting for YOU to find it...and give it a loving home...

LOVE Hub Hobby! I used to go to their original location in the Hub Shopping Center to get my D&D and model rocket fix. When they later moved to their current location in west Richfield when I was in middle school, I remember making the perilous bike ride down busy 66th Street, risking death just to get to the greatest Twin Cities hobby store. Good times!

Next time you make a lawn chair, try using narrow ribbon you can get from either your hobby store, or a craft store like Jo-Ann Fabrics. It's thin, it will glue down with PVA, it comes in multiple colors, but most importantly it's flexible enough to make woven seating like a a lot of folding lawn chairs have.

I work at a University. Overhead projectors that used the clear sheets aren't used any more. We got rid of all of them almost a decade ago, although there were some old profs who wanted to keep them because they don't like change. They've all been replaced by document cameras that can project normal print documents to a projector or TV.
