I wish my camera would have picked up how dark it actually got... I probably could have adjusted a few settings on it, but didn't realize it until I went to edit.

In my old midtown neighborhood, I was outside planting marigolds. At the apex of the eclipse, all the birds were quiet and none were moving. It was silent and still in the trees and all about. As the sun started reappearing, birds started darting and twittering and a dog started barking. Thanks for sharing the bees reaction. 🥰🐝 Just lovely to watch the natural world around us. So interesting that nature is guided (or in the case of the rooster confused) by the light. We also should be guided by The Light. Sad that many, like the rooster, are confused and running about making a lot of noise. Many hugs to all gathered here❣️

Our chickens started heading to the Coop when the sun got to about 50% covered. We went into totality and half the flock was still out. The best part were the whitetail deer in our woods. They came out of the woods at about the same time to go into the fields like they do at dusk. When it reached totality, they RAN back into the woods. One stopped and looked at us watching and gave us a look like "WHAT IN THE HECK DID YOU DO?" It was so neat all around here in Central Ohio. But so SO fleeting. Been waiting for 18 months for it to happen and poof it was gone so quick.

We were 100% totality - almost right smack dab on the blue line. I sat right behind one of my hives and it was tons of buzzing and it went total quiet - then we heard frog in the pond. We had friends over and rule was no talking so we could all take in natures reaction. Was so amazing to witness.

We were in the path of totality. It was amazing. The birds stopped chirping, the crickets and frogs were singing, our chickens just stopped in the yard. It got cooler outside. We had 4 minutes of totality. I live where it crossed at the same point at 2017. It was a big deal here. 1000's of people traveled from all over to watch it.

I was near Lansing Michigan, where the sun was about 95% eclipsed. I wasn’t near any livestock, but I did notice the robins began singing as if it were evening. I heard a few other birds as well, but the robins were so loud it was hard to hear the others. My sister happened to be in Arkansas in the path of totality. We were texting one another, and sending photos of what we were seeing. I’m surprised I had the opportunity to see any of the eclipse. Michigan’s weather often interferes with seeing astronomical phenomena! It was so cool that it was visible in a large swath of the country!

Chickens went to roost at 94%... spent about an hour till that one chicken, we all have at least one. Stood in the doorway telling them to come out... Hives are in the barn as traps were have not been successful... Things are not what they used to be in my heyday of the early 80's. Did be told of a swarm but was so faraway... and thought they bee gone before my arrival... So here I set on bee's knees hoping for another chance. Some gumption wouldn't hurt.🐝

That was cool. Up here in Toronto our zoo had an event for kids to be 'scientists' for the weekend. Families could sign up to record the animals behaviour the day before and then the day of the eclipse. The nocturnal creatures like wolves got very active. They showed them pacing well before the event, the kids they spoke with on the news were hilarious. It got completely dark here, the birds got very quiet too. We noticed quite a drop in temperature too.

Yes, they were definitely doing an orientation flight. I do find it weird though because they normally do that closer to 2 o'clock. At 3:18 was peak eclipse for us and they were most settled at that time then after that, their activity picked up again. Still think it's very cool to observe them and their reaction.
