Even in all his bitterness, he was always willing to help those in need. That's what made Otto special.

My stepdad (I just call him dad because he’s been my dad since I was 3 or 4 years old) is like that. Minus the physical big heart. I remember watching this over the summer I think it’s sweet how much Marisol cared for Otto no matter how bitter he seemed to her. And all the throwback scenes were perfectly made his son did an awesome job playing younger Otto.

I love the line "It turns out having a big heart is not as nice as it sounds" and Marisol's reaction; you can almost hear her thinking "that's just like him to say that"

This scene didn’t hit me until the shot of Ruben crying. The poor man is probably hurting the most and the most he can express himself is simply shedding tears.

Ruben still liked Otto despite their arguments over cars, and the whole debacle of Otto being voted out of the association. When Otto told Ruben about his plans of suicide, Ruben tried to stop it the best way he could, if he could move properly, he would have done more.
