My take is that because hes an actor, he lost touch with reality and him confronting his look alike is just him confronting himself and going back and forth in his mind about and also living a double life because of it

I saw this movie a long time ago and looked up online interpretations of the plot afterwards - I remember reading a few that said the spider symbolizes his fears of fatherhood... Who knows?
