Know that feeling brother. I have dropped a lot of trees before watching BBR, but using some of his tips about chain filing, and dealing with knotty or gnarly wood when it comes to splitting, telling ya, my saws never ran better and I got a 25 Ton hydraulic splitter that I gotta remember to pull out of the garage to keep it in shape half the time, cause I just prefer splitting by hand again. As some of my old military buddies would say my way of cutting and Buckin was one method of getting the job done, NOT the preferred method, but a method none the less. I would gladly say with the methods I tried, for me, BBRs method is the preferred one.
@MDX360liveordietryin4 жыл бұрын
@@jasonpinckney2178 Yeah I’ve used a splitter ever sense I could operate the handle (dad would do the lifting) also got a machete before I could lift a chain saw. But I agree! There’s just something, rewarding about splitting by hand. I’d like to think of my axe is my friend, my maul is more my therapist, and my double sided axe is like my buddy that’s always down at the bar. :) :) :)
@jasonpinckney21784 жыл бұрын
@@MDX360liveordietryin My last axe just recently gave up the ghost after being true to me after several years. Hasn't broken but the head has rubbed down the haft enough where it's too loose for me to trust it safely. Stuck using a Fiskars maul and a Fiskars single bit right now, but really want to find a good profiled double bit at around 4-4.5lbs. Don't get me wrong, the Fiskar makes some decent tools and I modified the profile of both mine so they do a great job, but the composite straight handles just don't have the same feel to em. Of course nobody in my area re-hafts axes, so figured I will patiently wait till I can find a beauty of a 32" Double bit that I want to buy while I pick up a few haft's to work with and practice doing my own.
