As of chapter 36, my goodness, it’s like everyone is on codependence with each other, falling into the same cycle of hell over and over again. And I keep thinking, how to solve this bull crap? These characters have more freedom than they imagine, but they don’t take the path they want, for Kurose’s teacher, it’s society’s constraints (being forced to think that you have to get married quickly before you get old, go at your own pace). For Kurose, it’s with his mom (Idk about this one, hopefully he comes up with some big brain idea to leave the city with his mom, or just leave entirely by himself). For Chako, it’s her patriarchal family (she has to make her family realize how big her passion is to go to Tokyo University regardless of the risks going there). Anyway, this is such complicated bullshit, if this story were real, I definitely don’t have the capacity to help these sad asf characters.

Yeah that's one thing I appreciate about the story, all their problems can feel so trivial when taken at face value, like why can't Reiji just ditch his family and go to Tokyo for himself, but so many of the issues in the story are a mix of internal and external, it's Reiji's Mom and Reiji himself that are keeping him in the town, not just one or the other. The story is really good at immersing you into their problems and making them feel to you like they do to all these characters.

its a great story, the writing was amazing, and the art style is breathtaking, and the characters feel real. If your debating on starting it, it's best to know before hand that it's... a lot to take in. But you most likely wont regret it.

I read it back in the days upto where he bangs his teacher 😁 than i thought the drama was getting too much for me and i dropped it. But now it looks like i need to give it a try again. But there was another reason. Their parents are right in one sense not all parents can bear their children universities fees so they make excuses like family traditions etc.
