"middle class" typically doesn't exist in fantasy settings. the middle class didn't exist until the 20th century irl. if your character works for a living, they are working class.

@@GIGI_Artz Well, I mean, technically there are merchants who can be at any level of wealth, depending on how successful they are. For example, a merchant is usually a peasant however, depending on how successful their businesses depends on how well they are treated they still have some limitations as they’re not nobility. They are basically an artificial middle class as they are treated slightly better than the rest of the peasants. Same goes with doctors.

The middle class exist since the 19th century, so it wouldn't be unrealistic. Unless the setting is during the renaissance or the middle age. Plus i'm pretty sure that some merchants could've been middle class. And it's original, since like you said, the middle class doesn't exist in fantasy settings. If the work she's doing is something like owning a library, hat shop, tailor shop, is a doctor or a lawyer then i think she would count as middle class. Though doctors and lawyers would obviously have more money and studied longer than the people owning a shop.
