The worst thing about snow in NYC is the puddles. Every intersection has 4 puddles where the sidewalk slopes down to meet the street. If you aren't careful, you could end up stepping into a freezing puddle that goes up past your ankles. Happens to me at least once a year

Though I no longer live in NYC, I've enjoyed Cash's apartment visits for years. But I'm even more impressed with his doing news-oriented investigations like this one. Maybe he's already been exploring wider markets as a reporter But if not, I really hope he makes arrangement with a national network, covering real estate-oriented news stories all around the country, perhaps for CNN or ABC, for example. His fans would thrill to see him in a national spotlight, where his distinctive edits of speech & video would corral a massive number of new followers. Cash, I'm probably not telling you anything you haven't thought about already, but your time is now. Best of luck, amigo!

Seeing the girls out in the snow was worth it. The look on the babies face was precious. I can't believe you haven't had snow for 701 days. It wasn't even that much. I think snow anywhere has its unique challenges. I grew up in Chicago. Shoveling the walkways. Many of our rental apartments had building owners who resided in them so they took care of it . I was one of them. But sometimes the shoveling had to wait until you got home from work. Most commerial businesses owned the building so they were there to manage high pedestrian areas. Larger complexes had a super or building management who took care of it. The worst thing would be walking on a sidewalk when traffic came by and splashed sloshy dirty slush on you.

the whole thing about each building being responsible for cleaning its little portion of the sidewalk is absolutely insane to me. this should be the city's responsibility for real. when i lived in Helsinki, there was snow on a daily basis for long stretches of time in the winter and big snow plows would ride down the streets and sidewalks and even inside courtyards every night to prepare for the next day when people would get up to start driving and walking. the thing woke me up every night when it went by my bedroom window, but it was so necessary.

I really miss NYC snow storms, I lived there for 8 years from Australia and now I never see snow, because I’m back home 😢 My friend and I, used to meet in Central Park the morning after the first snow fall for the season, with our dogs, because they had so much fun bouncing around in the snow. I remember working at the vet clinic on the west side, and I lived on the east side. There were no buses due to the massive snow blizzard that came overnight, and I had to walk through snow up to my knees through Central Park to get to work, because everyone else lived too far away and couldn’t get in, and there were animals at the clinic that needed feeding and medicating. It was an experience I will never forget, people were literally skiing by me in Central Park 😮😂 later in the day, more staff arrived as the city cleared the snow, and they told me how dangerous it was to walk through Central Park, because the snow on the trees could cause the limbs to fall. I didn’t even think of that, being Australian and rarely ever seeing snow. The amount of people that I saw fall on black ice and snow, was insane, I picked up many people from the ground, myself included. I never knew that dogs had to wear shoes because the salt people put on the sidewalk to make the snow melt, would get caught in between their toes and would sting! So the dogs with shoes that you see, is not because their feet are cold or to protect them from the snow…it’s because of the salt!

I'm from Dublin, Ireland. In my parents generation it was the responsibility of the council to look after the mundane factors we only really appreciate when they aren't done. Bin collections, weed removal, path and road maintenance and pedestrian safety. For the most part this worked quite well except for the usual danger of industrial action and union disputes i.e. strikes. In more recent years though they have passed on the responsibility of some of this to homeowners. It's now the responsibility of the homeowner to grit the pathways and even local roads (in residential estates not main roads). Councils are now more focused on nonsense policies around diversity hiring policies and the green agenda. So they won't remove weeds due to herbicide bans so bicycle paths end up overgrown with weeds with concrete cracks on the way and paths are more dangerous to walk on. On top of that the general efficiency of council activity is much lower.

In Adelaide the councils still do their duties, though they hire out a lot of them. The worst is the prices keep going up and up. No two years together are the homeowners rates the same.

Every video I watch makes me wonder more and more why people want to live in NYC.

It may not be a horrible storm but there was still interesting information given out

In Aurora Colorado we have 24 hours after the snow stops to shovel our walks. Recently we had three storms back to back. And measurable snow! And below zero temps. One gets tired of shoveling, the same piece over and over again! Thankfully, we have great neighbors who help out each other.
