I've done that one a few times before, trying to make the visual really clear to match the audio changing. It works for emphasis but when things are sometimes subtle I know I like having visual cues tied in too. Slipper cam! haha. I did think "do I have time to order some really stupid slippers" but I didn't. :)

I got the eurorack module when it first came out very excited. After a lot of use I found several odd behaviors and sent in bug reports to Enforphines. I ended up in communication with their dev working on the firmware side of the module. They ended up putting out a few updates addressing my bugs but the process was frustrating. Mainly because they would be rude telling me I was crazy but over time fine the issued and fix it. In the end the module never lived up to its potential and was more fruestaiing to use and I gave up sending them emails and just sold it. Doubt I'll ever buy an Endorphines module in the future after experiencing they way they delt with bug reports and criticism. Good video here though. Looks like the firmware has come a long way since then.

I've had a similar experience with the euro Golden Master. It's very frustrating to use for something that is pretty straight forward and impressive on paper. All that said - I have a 1u Golden Master for sale if anyone is interested 😅 This pedal demo is really good. Good enough to make me consider buying the pedal haha. But I won't. DivKid makes the best demos

@@kennymester There was some noise. It was also the way the way the EQ worked with the compressor. There was also something odd going on with the low end, it would always make the low end weeker. This is mostly likely all fixed now, not sure.

@@potsandjacks for me when I was using it as an end of chain for a live PA setup the noise was just too unbearable at any setting. I was hoping that they made updates so that noise wasn’t an issue anymore. I’ve had to send multiple modules back in the past to Spain and they came back with the same noise issue. I swapped this pedal out with the Analog Heat +FX and there is no digital noise coming from that.

@@kennymester Now that you mention it, I do remember the noise and that was one of the factors to me selling it. Now I use the Model1 6 channel mixer. It has an amazing saturation circuit that is perfect for blending eurorack channels for live use.

I bought this pedal as soon as it came out and while it does some cool stuff this pedal exhibits the same flaw as a lot of other digital Endorphines modules which is that it has terrible digital noise. Unfortunately I never seem to hear it in KZbin reviews but with multiple modules and now this pedal it's been an issue every time for me. I had to return this pedal back to Perfect Circuit. I really hope in the future Endorphines fixes their engineering to filter out the high pitch noise from the processors they use.

Hi Kenny, sorry to hear you didn't have good experiences. The presentation of this module is raw audio* presented as fairly, cleanly etc as I can. So what you're hearing is what this pedal did for me. This is running firmware from February 12th this year which improved the noise a lot and as that was giving good results I'm very happy to show them as I think they work great here. *Just for clarity here's what I do for audio in demos. I record the gear audio mono/stereo raw, just level adjustment into a sound card. Then in the DAW I will level adjust as needed, not compression, just making sure the levels are good. That all goes into a video editor where files are brought together and editing and at the final stage I bring the gear audio and my voice audio together in a DAW and I sidechain/duck the gear audio against my voice, make sure they mix well and output the audio. It's really important to me that it's as true and uncoloured as it can be.

@@DivKid I’m not doubting the integrity of your presentation at all. I’m just consistently disappointed when I try out Endorphines products and the same issues keep occurring for me. I appreciate that they work on newer firmware to fix issues but then I have to ask why do they even have them in the first place? Regardless, it’s not worth my time anymore to try their products out of the gate because I don’t want to have to wait for fixes to maybe come out and possibly work. My hope is that at some point they redesign their products to not be susceptible to digital noise anymore. Seems other companies have figured it out.

Have you turned down the line output volume of the modular? When I go from the Bluebox (-8dB) to the Golden Master, everything is extremely smashed. Even though the threshold and input gain are completely down. Can you master to 0dB with this?

So if you pan your shaker all the way to the right and then widen it with the golden master, will it be even more wider? And if yes, how does that technically work?

the shaker isn't all the way right. So there's room to be wider. However mid side doesn't do anything to the pan, it splits the signal into sounds present in both speakers evenly as a mid signal and the side signals is what is uneven in the speakers, i.e stereo sounds and things panned. You boost the side level on this, so it emphasises what's already stereo.

So when you're using the sidechain input for ducking, do you have to route the actual kick sound separate from the golden master? If you don't, wouldnt it also duck the actual kick itself?

Yeah that's right if you're compressing a mix that's fine but if you're sidechaining the mix against something that's also in the mix, as you say it will duck itself. So it needs removing from the mix that feeds the compressor, then mix it back in afterwards.

I will say this (as presented as is, raw etc in the video) is giving good results. I think previous firmwares were a lot of issues and I think there's newer firmware since this even which I haven't tried yet.

But generally, what are you wanting the "end of chain" to do? I can't think of much that ticks all the boxes this does. But things like the Elektron Analog Heat, OTO BOUM, FMR Really Nice Compressor etc. With all those things end of chain though it's really easy to get heavy handed and ruin a mix, so just be aware of how much you're processing the sound. (not specific to those units, compression in general I mean).

Want to pull the plug on this, but the major concern i keep hearing is lots of noise. Can anyone confirm if this is still present on the new firmware? Want to use this in a studio capacity, so noise will be unacceptable ... and if i end up going through a delivery returns process, i would be so cheesed off

Hello, all I can say is that on the new firmware I was on, this video is a raw and true representation of the results I got. I do mention some noise in the video but it stop me getting good results on a variety of things. I would say if you're in the studio, software will be by far the lowest noise of any option out there.

I can't speak for the module as I haven't tried it. But the firmware on this is very recent, February 12th. So compared to the older module I presume there's lots of improvements and possibly the pedal hardware is better for noise?

@@DivKid thanks for replying. yes I do believe it has enough power. I'm using a 9V, center negative supply that puts out about 650 mA. I think something happened when I updated it, making the VU meters stop working and also sound only passing through in bypass.

Sorry to hear that, I don't know how different the builds are for the pedal and modules so I wonder if more recent firmware could be ported over? That might be over simplifying things though.

it seems the pedal is 24bit with 32bit processing, while the 1U and 3U modules are 16bit/32bit processing, wonder if that could make a difference regarding this digital noise we are experiencing. Even tweaking the back panel pots and and carefully feeding the module I can't get rid of this intermittent digital noise, just like if the processing was overloaded. I always thought I was doing something wrong, but it seems we are a few here with that issue.
