It's theorized that the reason Woody doesn't know his backstory, is that he was the prototype toy for the toyline, and that he was Andy's father's toy. So, if he were the first, he wouldn't know persay about his tv show that came AFTER the toyline was created. In the same vain, Jessie is theorized to belong to Andy's mother. His cowboy hat is designed like Jessie's instead of Woody's.

There is an interesting theory I like to believe. Jessie's owner was, in fact, Andy's mom. She grew up, got rid of her toys and moved out, etc. Except for her former hat (which is in fact Jessie's and not Woody's), and she gifted that to her son when he grew up... That's why Andy's hat is not Woody's but Jessie's instead.

Was there only one Woody doll? Andy's father was also named Andy-Andy Sr. -and he wrote his name on Woody's boot. The reason Woody is such a rare toy is because he's the only Woody doll that was ever made-just a prototype. Long story short, Andy ends up with a Woody prototype, the absolute only Woody doll in existence (the official line was never manufactured due to a new interest in space toys). So, honestly after looking through google, Woody is only one of a kind unlike Buzz who we see the isles are full of buzzes but there is only one woody doll and the whole collection was only made of only one each and that's it. Which made them super rare.

Another theory for why some toys know when they are toys or real figures. Batteries. Pretty much most of the toys are battery free. In the first movie they make references to stores they sat in till they got bought. Woody pull string is a windup box, but buzz needs batteries. So while in the box as mentioned in the movie, hes in "hyper sleep" but then when hes unboxed at andys party, buzz has had no time to get use to the idea of being a toy. As for the utility belt Buzz, its a store model, batties already inside but his mission is securing all other buzz. He doesn't get played with while on the display so he has no child interaction. So basically battery toys need to be acclimated when they are opened or they will think they arent a toy.

The section where Buzz flies through with all the space debris... is from A Bug's Life, just set at night and the rocks altitude set above the ground.

Toy Story 2 is my favourite but you'll absolutely love Toy Story 3 as well - I can't wait for you to get to that one. I'm also looking forward to you watching Bugs Life. It's certainly a hidden gem in my opinion and has a great message.

In a chracters interveiw with the Toy Story 2 characters, Stinky Pete admits that he likes Amy's artistic face painting. This shows that he has reformed finally becoming loved by a kid.

I love the theory that Andy's mom is Emily because the cowboy hat Andy has isnt brown like Woody's but rather red like Emily and Jessie's

I can't wait for you to react to the third movie. There's a time skip in the third movie. Equivalent to the time between the second and third movie, which adds to the emotional impact of the third one.

Toys driving a Pizza Planet truck. Shouldn’t be too unusual, considering the way the delivery guy rides it in the first film.

Yay! I was looking forward to reacting to this, as I am the third, and I'm sure you'll appreciate just how much the animation improves with time - The details, textures, colours, rendering, etc, etc.

Crazy fun fact about the movie: they came incredibly close to disaster during production. Someone working on the movie mistakenly typed in a command in a line of code that started deleting the movie. All of it. Months of work, disappearing before their eyes. I think it was almost entirely gone by the time they were able to put a stop to it. Their saving grace turned out to be another animator that was on maternity leave. She'd taken home a copy of the work they'd done so far so that she could keep working while she was gone, and now had the ONLY copy of the movie. They sent someone over to her house to get her computer, wrapped it up in about a million blankets, buckled it into the back seat, and took the world's most cautious drive back to the studio. I like to think about this whenever I think I've made a monumental mistake, just to give myself perspective. 😅

I'd like to suggest watching Mirror Mirror-the telling of snow white, and You Again-a girl discovers her brother is marrying her high school bully. I know I left this on the last video, but I really want it to happen, so I'll just keep doing it!

27:10 I got two Buzz toys with the utility belt, an older one and a newer one. Neither of them had working utility belts and it always bummed me out. But at least the newer one actually has a working wrist communicator, my other two Buzz’s (I have a really old beat up one with no utility belt, he might be older than me I think) don’t have those and I always wanted it. Their helmets don’t do the whoosh thing either. The tech just doesn’t seem to exist to make a fully working toy of Buzz…

The blooper with Stinky Pete and the Barbies are cut from later DVD and Bluray editions after the #meetoo scandal, where John Lasseter (the director of Toy Story 1 and 2, A Bug's Life, Cars 1 and 2, and Disney and Pixar Executive Producer up until 2019 when he left Pixar) was revealed for having a history of alleged sexual misconduct toward employees. This edition was kept on Disney+ as it felt wrong to joke about these things.

19:25 - a fun easter egg is that the old man who comes to repair Woody is the old man from the "Geri's Game" short by Pixar.
@traviscummings91782 ай бұрын
There's a ton of fun easter eggs in this movie if you stop to look for them. One of my personal favorites is during the scene where Ham is switching through the channels trying to find the Al's Toy Barn commercial. It's only on screen for a split second, but if you pause at just the right time, you can see a bit of a scene from Tin Toy, the animated short that played before the original Toy Story.

So glad you enjoyed this one. This is one of the few sequels where a lot of the fanbase thinks the second is better than the first. The other thing about this movie series is that the kids that watched it grew up alongside Andy when watching them, so we imprinted on him in a way. All these years later, my husband still cries like a baby when Jessie's "When She Loved Me" plays.

My favorite Toy Story movie! My parents and I were on vacation in Florida when this movie came out the day before Thanksgiving in 1999. My parents and I saw this right after Thanksgiving dinner with a theater full of other people. There’s something about watching a movie with an audience of fellow fans who are laughing and crying along with you that makes this movie even more special.

The one small little nitpick I have with this movie is that Woody apparently had no idea about his own franchise. Buzz did in the 1st movie, and thought he was the real deal. So why didn't Woody? Did he never had a phase where he thought he was a real cowboy and so on? But again, just a nitpick. Literally everything else in this movie is perfect. They almost lost this movie though!! It was supposed to be straight to DVD but Pixar later on realized they had something special here. The movie was in late stadium production when someone accidentally deleated it. I mean, réally deleted it. The. Whole. Movie. There so happened to be one employee who had a copy on her computer. It's absolutely insane how close this movie was to death 0_0 And Al is voiced by Wayne Knight, aka Dennis Nedry in Jurassic Park Ok im done now XD

0:52 The Iron Giant was actually directed by Brad Bird who later went on to direct for Pixar. 7:08 I'm guessing she told Andy she was gonna be doing this, cos she's just taking stuff. 8:23 Broken? His shoulder's just ripped. 16:45 And what was Woody gonna do once he gets his arm back? 24:40 And this must've been back in the 70s, so it's been long, long time for Jessie. 30:27 The episode playing is supposed to be Woodys Finest Hour, and while everyone was talking earlier, you can hear Jessie thanking Woody for saving them. So Prospector lied about the show being cancelled, cos i guess this song goes against his 'kids growing up' speech and sure enough it changes Woodys mind. 34:08 Damn, the paint came off, his arm's ripped again, i bet Woody's going bald again. 37:36 That's also the singing voice of Mikey from Recess.

This might sound random, but I’ve just thought of the perfect film for you to react to. The Big Year (2011) starring Jack Black, Steve Martin and Owen Wilson. It’s a comedy, but not the sort of comedy you’d expect these actors to be in. It’s very lighthearted and, for lack of a better word, cozy. I think you’d love it.
