Hannah (Sid's sister) seems like the only normal one in the family tbh. Her brother is a psycho; her mum is evidently either oblivious to her son's actions or, she does know and just doesn't care enough about her kids to stop it; her dad, seen very briefly in the living room, asleep in an armchair, is implied to be a drunk (there are loads of empty beer cans strewn around) and is probably abusive. Even the dog was afraid to go into the room where he was, so that explains a lot.

My theory on why Buzz is *like that* is because he's based on a franchise character with a whole developed story tied to him as opposed to generic dolls or toys that were created solely to be toys. Also, of course, newer toys stick to their intended roles and develop their own unique personalities the more their owners play with them. Woody is an "old family toy" according to Andy's mom, and is very well-loved and played with by Andy, so he's been around long enough to know the deal.
@CommanderM1174 ай бұрын
even woody probably started out like buzz imagining he was a real cowboy but then gained more Understanding that he was a toy, also some habit probably stick like the Army men staying army like.
@Oiyuki6 ай бұрын
To be fair to Sid he’s really not an evil person. He’s a kid who needs more attention and support from his parents. He’s high energy and very creative. What is torture from the view of a living toy from Sid’s perspective is creative play. He had no way to know the objects he was given to play with were living beings so his playing at interrogations or doing “surgery” wasn’t malice toward his toys in anyway he was just making things to match his imagination. Yes he sort of picks on his sister and breaks her stuff too but let’s be real here we’ve all messed with our siblings in less than ideal ways growing up. Also if you watch the rest of the Toy Story series pay attention to the back ground happening there’s often some cool things you can spot that way.

13:05 The scene where Buzz accidentally gets knocked out the window was VERY different in the first draft. Woody originally intended to knock him out the window, not off the table. And when questioned about it, he turned on everyone. When the staff and director saw it, the director called for them to stop and he worked to figure out how to re-work it so that Woody was more likeable. He settled, then, on having Buzz falling out the window be an accident, which still allowed for strife between Buzz and Woody, but also kept Woody as an empathetic character.

Great Reaction, Oscar! It is implied that Sid and Hannah's dad is a hunter and an alcoholic because he is seen in the recliner in the living room with cans strewn around a room with duck wallpaper and a mounted deer head. This (the alcoholic dad) allows Sid some grace for his abuse of the toys and explains how he got so many explosives. We don't see Sid abused, but it is assumed. Toy Story is without a doubt one of my favorite CG animated films but also an influential animated film as not only it resulted in Pixar Animation Studios to become a household animation studio in CG animation, but it also was a massive hit when it launched and a gamechanger for animated films in general. This film was clearly the "Snow White" of CG Animated movies. On top of that this film, this came out the same year when I was born: 1995. Surprisingly enough, I’ve seen a few folks be bothered by the CGI but I wasn't scared/bothered by the CGI for this movie as the CG aged well and it was 1995 when the film came out, so this film and VeggieTales I grew accustomed to CG animation along with 2D Animation, but Stop-Motion films (e.g. Nightmare Before Christmas, James and the Giant Peach, Aardman) that's another story. Looking forward to your upcoming reactions to the next _Toy Story_ films on the channel, especially the third and fourth film.

Hey, just wanted to let you know that I recently found your channel and been having a blast going through your videos. I've binged through a ton of the videos already. Also, I really appreciate your reactions because you react as you go and then review afterwards. I see so many channels that pause every few mins and yap forever ruining the content. So a big thanks for providing me (and others) awesome content to enjoy! Happy to be a Marshmallow!

Pixar has some of the best movies ever! I dont know if you've seen the Incredibles but an absolute must watch.

This is literally my favorite Pixar movie since I was little! I would always ask my parents to play it over and over again and we had VHS tapes so rewinding a movie was a pain In the butt back then. 😂 I also called it toy toy even had my own woody and buzz dolls and had my name on the bottom of the foot like Andy did in the movies. 😂

Both Toy Story 1 and 2 came out before I was born in 2000. I saw these films on VHS when I was a kid. And I watched the 2nd one before the 1st one, which is honestly fine because you don't really NEED to watch 1 to understand 2, it's just how things happened for me I guess.

Yes, this was their first movie, but not their first animated project. Pixar did a few computer 3D shorts before working on their first movies. The lamp on the Pixar title screen, which is known as Luxo Jr., was an animated short, as well as Tin Toy, a one man band tin toy soldier having to run from a baby, are just a few things they worked on.

One of my biggest reactions to Toy Story (a groundbreaker in so many ways) was "Wow! What a brilliantly structured script!" I would genuinely still maintain that it had one of the best-written screenplays that year.

can you spot this Pizza truck in all Pixar films? heh! this film practically pioneered facial rigging for expressions. Woody had a ton on the face

fyi Andy's monster is Randal from Monster's inc. You can see this as Andy's room wallpaper and the backdrop Randal camouflage onto is the same exact cloud wallpaper. Pixar movies are loosely connected with each other like the trailer home exists from both Monster's Inc and Bug's Life. You can see the poster on Sid's room in one of the Monster doors in Monster's Inc

I love how since this was the first computer animated full length movie, you can clearly see problems with getting characters to blink right. Whenever I watch Toy Story 1 and I think 2 had it as well, I always notice characters blinking one eye at a time

Oh my, yes! We're getting onto the Toy Story Trilogy? Have a good time! If I may recommend a Pixar title, how about The Good Dinosaur? Absurdly underrated and I don't know why but people hate on it so much, but I find it beautiful.
@mevb6 ай бұрын
I don't hate it but it's one of Pixar's weakest movies, though definitely not the worst (both Cars 2 and Lightyear is way lower). Think that the movie have some flaws, including feeling annoyed that Arlo is afraid of nearly everything at the start and the dad dies at the start feels like a Lion King ripoff. The ending doesn't feel satisfying either as it was a big deal that the family had to store supply for the winter and there's no payoff for that part of the plot. It just Arlo gets, home and gets his print on the silo for coming home after the adventure and that's it.

Can you really call it a trilogy tho? When there’s soon 5 movies of it. I would call it more of a franchise

@Emilie_wallin It's more of a franchise. It has a couple of shorts and specials.

You can’t imagine how crazy it was to see this movie as a kid, I was maybe 6 when I saw it I then spied my toys through the door for MONTHS because I thought they were secretly alive too 😭😭

Oscar .... this has nothing to do with your movie reaction but I wanted to say-I really enjoy watching your Friends reactions, I think you're doing a great job and I'm glad I found your channel !
@brianmatthews17366 ай бұрын
Oscar, we have to remember that this movie is nearly 30 years old. Of course the animation, and even the story lines are going to improve over time for Pixar. But the story line here was based on tried and true story types. Friends to enemies, knowing your niche in life, all that stuff. We also have to remember that this movie though adults enjoy it just as much was aimed directly at kids. Kids won't psycho-analyse CID like adults will...most kids will just see Cid as mean, and he gets what he deserves, etc. I think this movie was actually media changing , and quite innovative for films when it came out. It also was a hint at just how important Pixar became to the film industry.

Yeah you’re right and I’m pretty sure I balanced my opinion of the dated aspects with the film with how revolutionary it was at the time? 🤷♂️ pretty much what you’re saying 😆 What makes the film so good in my eyes is actually just how old it is, the standard is far lower considering it was a first attempt essentially.

There is no other movie that gives me the ultimate nostalgia feeling than Toy Story. I am instantly transported to about 1997/1998 when I first watched this. Toy Story 2 as well, which is as good as the first movie.

The director said that Sid isn't really a bad or psychotic kid. The way that Andy plays with his toys is idealized, no child actually plays with their toys so nicely. Blowing them up, taking them apart, putting them back together, sometimes combining their parts... That's actually a sign of someone with a lot of problem solving skills AND critical thinking, using the tools around them in an unorthodox way.
