A Matter of Tyres

In the future, also SUVs and 4x4 vehicles shall be fitted with fuel-saving tyres. Tyre manufacturer Goodyear makes a respective offer with its EfficientGrip SUV and has designed its tyres with optimised rolling resistance in a more robust way. The outer contour of the tyre has been optimised, the side panel thickness reduced, and special coating materials helped to reduce the rolling resistance and therefore at the same time the fuel consumption. 3D sipes ensure a good grip on wet as well as on dry routes, and the equal distribution of pressure over the whole contact surface provides high mileage. Furthermore, it was possible to keep the rolling noise at a low level.
