A MAYGAY FROM HELL, THE BOARD THEY ALL SAID WAS BER!

Beyond ECONOMICAL repair BER means. Doent mean no chance of repair.
This is the monster of repairs! This board has been eaten by a battery and then left in a shed or a garage with water ingress, I had RUST and corrosion to deal with! Its taken a lot of time to even get near this stage. A lot of traces had to be stripped back with a dremel fitted with fine polishing bit, A lot of components had to be replaced. Its actually got a lot less broken traces, so far, than I expected it would have. Theres lots still to do, I think, at best estimate, theres a couple of days work in it left, and Its gonna have to wait till my next days off as I am back at work now!!

I wonder, rather than keeping all of these old boards going, would it be better in the long run to have an arm-based board running an emulator with all the inputs and outputs? You would need a core board with a different I/O board for each tech that needed interfacing too. It could even be based on an Arduino with a plugin I/O board... It would be an interesting project that I wish I had the time to undertake.
