Quick FYI for everyone reading this; I'm an American living abroad. EVERY US Embassy in the world has a 24 HOUR emergency line! If the US Embassy is closed or it's a holiday, the US Embassy emergency calls are routed to the US Military and they will help you! Also, if an American is outside the US and can't afford to fly home...the US Embassy will fly you home! Dont believe the scammers!

I work for Delta and we have a daily flight for Delta . There is no way you have to pay for a special flight . I feel bad that people fall for such schemes. As soon as you started the narrative I knew it was about medication that has to be paid . It is a classic.

Anytime someone pushes a relationship its a red flags. They act like YOU don't have a say in the relationship. I would try to be just a support person and not even discuss a relationship. If you want me paying more for your kid than you pay. Huge red flags.

And WHY, in the name of everything that is good & Holy, do these women think it is their responsibility to pay gigantic medical bills for some stranger's child?! They are even on karaoke apps like smule or starmaker..some of them even attempt to sing (terribly)just to appear real. You have no idea how many keanus, depps, momoas and others write to me every day..even follow me 😅thank god to all our scam busters I sometimes have a lot of fun with them. Especially with one of the prince Andrews or prince fazzas of Dubai 😂😂😂

Scammers are great at drama. They'll cry, beg, tell lies, yell and get all angry when they can't get your money. I've seen some of the theatrics with the crying, and it's really award-winning acting. She should have verified the hospital through an independent lookup, not through him. If she had called them first, she could have saved herself so much grief. That's a lot of money when you have to dip into your credit cards, then get money from your family to cover the credit card payments.

Yea they go troll all those groups, be careful too about bereavement groups,scammers are all over those. Knew someone who had a scammer reach out to her on one of those. It's such a shame that this lady feels unable to talk to her family about this awful experience, which even put her health at risk. I hope she has found it helpful to have the opportunity to unburden herself here. I remember how ashamed and embarrassed I felt when I got scammed a few years ago, and that was just a few hundred pounds for fake tech support. I'm sure it must feel a thousand times worse to be strung along for such a long period with elaborate stories and cruel emotional manipulation.

Being broke never stops most scammers. They beg you to borrow the money..or sell something. They use guilt as a weapon..."Please help me or my child will die!" Like what happen to this lady, most scammers promise they will pay them back soon.. usually with interest. So the victim figures they have nothing to lose.

I get those a lot on facebook too. I call them out right away Saying " I don't friend Scammers." One time one replied. " Why do I say that?" I told them exactly why & I know the flags. Some times I get them commenting right on my default photo. I hate scammers. I would never give money too for a sick kid If someone online asks for it. Why the hell should I have to pay for their kids. #1 The kid is not mine Never will be.

The “I tried to send you a friend request” is the current scammer tactic to find potential victims. Or if you make a comment on a Facebook page, they will reply to your comment saying something like they like your user name or they like your profile. Block them.

A scammer only cares about themselves getting the money and they will say and do anything. When they don't get their way, they become Un caring vicious, and sometimes even threaten you. I think it depends on where you live and your insurance. I know a friend of mine has full coverage through the state and gets all his stuff for nearly nothing but then I've known people who have to pay thousands, unfortunately.

@@ScammingScammers My state has privatized Medicaid but I have really good coverage. There have been a few prescriptions they refused (continuous glucose monitor, Ozempic) but they pay 100% on my test strips, 2 kinds of insulin, syringes, 2 oral diabetes meds, and a different weekly injection called Bydureon. Plus all my dr appts, including specialists, hospital visits, lab work, and all my other meds and medical procedures. (I have a lot going on with my health on top of the diabetes but I'm hanging in there!)

On Facebook you can also change your settings so that only people who have at least one mutual friend with you can send a friend request. This has cut down on a lot of them for me. Instagram unfortunately is a different matter.
