Multiplayer is looking better and better with each and every devlog! Yess! That friend mode is gonna be great for pup mode, it'll help with keeping out Pup killers! The meter for the rally is so much better now, and will be less annoying having to get everyone involved!

Hell yeah! It's clear that all of the people working on this game really care about its quality and living up to the player base's expectations. Some people have been a little impatient, but I very much appreciate that you guys are working to make multiplayer as bug-free as possible before release. Please, don't feel rushed and take your time--in all honesty the sheer amount of work you've put into this game is breathtaking, and as a longtime WolfQuest player, it's awesome to see.

Okay i love the feature where it keeps the player's wolf in the game if they get disconnected for a few minutes. That's a very clever idea. I don't think i've seen another multiplayer game with something like that, and i play a lot of different games. In fact, i love all these multiplayer features! Splendid work, as always. (I'm gonna make yall kiddos or older players read again. Get ready, incoming old fan alert: ) I'm excited to play multiplayer and see how it goes, but more so for the (probably very distant) future where eventually pups will be a thing in multiplayer. I have no idea if episode three with older pups will be a multiplayer map too, a long time from now, but I always loved raising pups with people who cared for them. (I would reset the game if even one died, so I saved often when everything was okay, then would reload said save.) I loved it so much, I'd often refuse to end the game considering players could still endlessly level on protecting them from everything else. So I had started a game with a friend who served as the father of my wolves pups, then I'd stay home, and hang out with whoever came to raise my pups with me in an endless pup server.

For multiplayer there should be a way to interact with the other wolves like licking or play fighting...maybe there should be a thing that allows the other person to accept that option first or something

That is very useful as this will avoid pup killers and the chosing friend option is another good thing to have so we don't have those players that may try to kill the pups overall, I love how Multiplayer is coming along keep up the good work WolfQuest x^-^

YESSSSSSS THE FRIEND MODE IS SO MUCH BETTER! The private game mode was annoying and there was always the chance of someone you don't know joining if you're like me and you're too lazy to come up with a good game code (I always just had the name be A and the password be B). Me and my friends remember when some person we didn't know somehow joined our private server and it freaked us all out.

I also think the a and d keys are great because it kinda captures the struggle when you're fighting to break free of them. I also am looking forward to raising pups with other players. I'm really happy with the new functions for multiplayer. I can't count how many times I’d have to immediately leave a game because someone got mad at me for taking up a spot or I lost a rally thanks to _those players_ who didn't howl or play bow, either because they didn't know how or, more likely, the just decided not to. The progress with multiplayer is coming along so well and I can't wait to be able to play it! Of course, I’ll wait patiently. You guys take your time!! One thing: will there be different chat types with multiplayer? And if so, could there maybe be a little description about each chat type or something of the sort, maybe only when you hover your mouse over each option? Mostly because I’m pretty dumb and forgetful and sometimes will choose the wrong option and have to reload and change it, haha

I've waited this long, so I can absolutely wait longer! Honestly, the thing I'm looking forward to the most is pup raising. Contrary to when I was a kid, I now play WolfQuest for the team work. Hunting and pup raising are definitely the most exciting aspects for me!

I love those ideas so far! One thing that bothered me in 2.7 was how a multiplayer game ended with the host leaving. Sometimes I’d have fun with more players and before I was able to check their names for a friend request, the host just left. It’d be great if the host position automatically switched to the next person or is getting assigned by the old host once/before they disconnect. Just a thought! Also, this might be too much work, but I always liked the idea of having multiple packs in one multiplayer session. I often roleplayed with people who eventually split up into two or more packs. It would be great to have a dynamic where you could actually bite or kill other players if they aren’t part of your pack, to have a greater roleplay experience! ofc that defeats the working together as one pack aspect, but I know that many players love to play as loners or rival pack members. It’d be fun to be actually able to bite/kill them! :) I’m excited for multiplayer and am fascinated by how continuously quickly you’re all working on it!

An idea for when you leave a multiplayer game (of your own volition) there could be a pop up or option for “Don’t save my spot” that way if you’re permanently leaving the session you don’t take up spots for new players!

When playing with some people, though, 5 minutes can be a long time to have a slot taken up by someone who isn’t coming back at all, and they know and everyone knows they’re not coming back. I was saying that, should you go to the Menu, click “Main Menu” or “Exit Game”, there could be a small pop-up. “Do you want your wolf to remain for 5 minutes and save your spot in the game?” You could click “Yes” or “No” and maybe set a default option. If you choose “Yes”, your wolf will remain in the game, laying down in the disconnected state. However, if you choose “No”, your wolf will immediately despawn and the slot on the server will become open again, and your spot will be saved. This will not be relevant on a random disconnect, for like network issues or if the game crashes. In those cases your wolf would remain for the allotted 5 minutes in the disconnected state. The only reason I say this is sometimes people come through looking for other people, or immediately join and disconnect; I see it happen All The Time on RP and hunting servers on WQ 2.7. This would just give those people, if they’re going to pop in like that, the option to not leave their wolf just sitting around for 5 minutes taking up space when they know they’re not going to rejoin that game. If this isn’t an option, it will probably lead to the host having to kick out ghost players who just popped in for a second to see who was playing or something. Which isn’t a huge issue, but it could be a nice quality of life change.

YES YES YES YES!!!!! I’m SO glad that you guys have found a way to minimize the saving spots issue. I’ve talked an immense amount of times in the comment section about an especially upsetting saving spots encounter, and I’m really hoping this can get me back into multiplayer again! I have avoided multiplayer for so long because I was pretty young compared to the other players at the time of the incident, but how they bullied and threatened me out of the game was *not cool* . But hey! I’ll be a wolf! So that’ll be much easier. Anyhow, the progress is going great guys, and I’m so happy to see this game grow! I’m also excited to see some of you in the game! I hope this helps me get over my fear of multiplayer, so I can finally play without being bullied, I’ll see you guys there!
