A Memorable Sant Jordi for Alinghi Red Bull Racing | 22nd April | America's Cup

As the locals celebrated shoreside with the tradition of books and roses to celebrate the ‘Diada de Sant Jordi’ or St George’s Day, out on the beautiful waters of Barcelona it was a building breeze through the day that saw the Swiss, Americans and French all training hard.
For Alinghi Red Bull Racing, the technique improvements are coming thick and fast with the team beginning to build confidence in their radically-designed platform. It’s early days but this young, hard-charging Swiss team have proved over the previous two years that they are the fastest learners with an eagerness to hit peak performance. That will come in time, but BoatOne looked a different boat today, standing on its foils in just 7-8 knots of breeze and using all the leverage of the windward cant arm as the breeze topped out at around 14 knots late on.

I think Brian did an excellent job in English. If you’re not used to different languages it can sometimes be difficult to understand. Brian may properly take exception to my Quebecois French. Practice watching non-native English speakers on KZbin and it will become less frustrating. This is a Swiss team who are already tri-lingual without English. Opportunity to learn a new skill.

The Alinghi team is basically starting from square one with the new boat. They have to relearn everything, it's that different. On the other hand, _Taihoro_ isn't vastly different from _Te Rehutai_ to the extent the NZ crew needs to reacclimate to a completely new boat. To me, the new NZ boat looks like a lightened and optimized version of their old boat. Also, remember that the sea around Barcelona is more challenging to begin with, even if the videos don't show the sea state all that well. We'll know for sure when NZ sails their new boat there.

Translator please! There’s nothing worse than listening to someone who’s mother tongue is French talk English. This amounts to torture. My ears still ring! Come on! It shouldn’t be that difficult to find another person to interview inside the Alinghi Red Bull AC organization.

Yeah, I didn't understand what his response was at 1:45 and had to rewind it about four times since the subtitles didn't make it out either. In case anyone missed it, he said one of the biggest differences between boat 0 and the new boat is the drag of the hull. Now, whether he meant aero or hydro drag is anyone's guess, LOL.

Being a tri-lingual person myself, lived in 4 different countries throughout life including the US, I can confirm, that there is nothing worse than a person whose only language is their mother tongue complaining about someone's accent or pronunciation. I find it disappointing when the focus is on criticizing someone's accent rather than appreciating their multilingual capabilities. Bien faire et laisser dire, Bryan
