DL DD Yeah, I honestly don't understand (maybe I would if I was in someone else's shoes) why everyone is so petrified of Trump--he's not even president yet. He held the LGBTQ+ banner way up high during the RNC. He's condemned (twice now) any extreme, hateful acts that have occurred from his supporters. Yeah, MSM makes his cabinet out to be sketchy, but Steve Bannon is the only truly controversial figure. But, if the DNC gives Ellison the job, his history is just as controversial as Bannon's (imo). There's only 3 valid issues to be concerned about (from my perspective). His foreign business deals being #1. I condemned Hillary for the Clinton Foundation (as did his supporters), so it's only logical to condemn him as well. He needs to cut all ties immediately. #2 Depending on where you stand, the SCOTUS could be of concern. I doubt he reverses Roe v Wade, though. And #3, the Muslim registry thing. While the aspects are still very vague, I can understand why people would be very upset or very pleased. A guy associated with ISIS was caught today that planned on pulling a Nice-style attack on Times Square; It's a sensitive topic. I say wait till he gets into office to criticize him. Though, as Jimmy pointed out in a prior video--Trump could literally do the same things Obama has been doing and the media would be salivating over it. That's where I get pissed with partisan outlets like the Turks.

So the term "poor" is actually defined by the government as having a certain income. So no, half the country is not poor by government standards.. But if you look up the dictionary definition of poor, yes... half the country is poor. Barely having enough to survive is poor. For example, a family of 4 with an income of 23,000 dollars is not considered poor by the government's standards... but that family is literally barely eating 2 meals a day, is on welfare, and can't afford a car.... thats literally poor

Everything Jimmy says is true though. It really is the harsh truth of the matter and that's why it's so difficult to stomach. Jimmy is basically the only one on TYT that brings up Brexit as an important parallel and that brings up what's happening in France, Italy, Greece, etc. Europe is also shifting toward the right side of *its* political spectrum (the US is still quite conservative compared to Europe!). And it's scary to be here in Europe and see how countries like Austria are on the verge of electing a far-right populist! So yeah, this thing is not just about the US or Trump. It's really an international phenomenon. And it has everything to do with the economy. As he says - capitalism is failing on a global scale. People are angry...

Yeah, that's a difficult one to answer. Fear is most definitely an important driving factor, but the question is fear of what? Yes, immigration is a HUGE issue in Europe. And, in particular, refugees and economic migrants (since it seems no one has anything against a young, educated black woman such as myself, for instance). Some argue that the refugees and economic migrants are causing economic woes for the locals because they put pressure on the social welfare system. One also has to remember that Europe's recovery from the 2008 global economic crisis was much, much slower than for the US. And that's largely because of the way the bloc tried and failed to coordinate a response to the crisis. Unemployment is considered way too high here, but people tend to panic about that very quickly, I'd say. The other thing is that people are afraid and extremely pessimistic over here! It's all doom and gloom, which fuels the right-wing rhetoric when times get just a little tough. So, is it economics only? Or is it the refugee crisis alone? A combination? Or the perceived mutual interaction of the two that are most definitely being blown out of proportion by the right and their fear-mongering? Tough question to answer... but I will agree with you that immigration is definitely indispensible to whatever analysis one would like to make of it.
