Shakespeare speaks to us regardless of space and time as do Sophocles and Aristophanes. Dress it how you will the language in which the emotions are expressed remind us of our common humanity. And it is well to remember that all of Shakespeare's original productions were played in modern dress.

They're mumbling and whispering one minute and shouting and screaming the next. There's zero cadence since they're running through the lines as if they're modern speech patterns and not freaking poetry. I can barely understand any of it. And the anachronisms gave me a migraine. I made it to exactly 4:25 before I bailed. Weird choices. I was looking for poetry, my mistake...
Midsummer Night’s Dream is my favorite Shakespeare, and this was a really solid and enjoyable production. Thank you for sharing!

Thank heavens I finally have something I can show my 12 and 13 year old students! So hard when directors today feel that there has to be a sex scene in everything! Shakespeare was dealing with only male actors, so it was all suggested but never enacted. Today, oh heck! Throw caution to the winds! Not OK for young students. You want teachers to get their students hooked on Shakespeare? Easy! Leave out sex scenes! Teachers don't need the problems sex scenes cause.

Poor people. If you are learning this for an exam - PLEASE WATCH A PROPER GOOD FILM! This is too modern and completely loses its poetic-ness. And where the - is the magic? Why can’t people just stop modernising classics?
