The way he stopped and then didn't shake for the rest of the bath either, that's such a smart and obedient dog. The same thing happened with my daughter's schnau-tzu puppy after her first cut! 😂 She went from almost black to a light tan, because her fur was colored much like this dog's is. Now that she's older, her fur is more of a uniform mixture of the two colors nomatter the length.

He's a doubly magical dog, he can shapeshift _and_ change colour. I'm sure he can make things magically disappear too, especially edible ones. He looks four or five years younger after the grooming, even though he's only three - like a gigantic puppy. I've never seen a Bernese/Poodle (Bernoodle?) mix before. He seems to be quite intelligent and understands that what you do doesn't hurt him, so he'll probably get less and less nervous about getting groomed as time goes on. He was very brave.

@@katietheox23 I vote YES on Bernoodle! I suppose people went with Bernedoodle because of Labradoodles, but the Labradoodle is only a doodle because of the "d" in Labrador! It doesn't make any sense for other Poodle crossbreeds to be doodles, unless the breed the Poodle is crossed with also has a "d" in there.

@TheBaumcm2 жыл бұрын
“The way it should” only really applies to breed standards which usually requires hand stripping. Their fur, contrary to what many believe, aside from thickness maybe, doesn’t change growth pattern but more in texture. Having shorter hair allows the undercoat to be loosened more easily which keeps the dog more comfortable when they are not being used for their purpose. I had a golden, shepherd, sheltie mix, and yes she had beautiful fur, who we had to shave down every summer, even with regular brushing and grooming, because she was just too hot down south. She would become less active and pant constantly. No amount of brushing could curb the dust bunnies. Almost 7 years after her passing, and I still find her fur. We took her to a self groom and had a full on furnado, and she was still panting. As with all things, it’s more about quality of life and time and money management.
@antiquegirl6505 Жыл бұрын
We had a Shetland Sheepdog, with an insanely long & thick double coat. He had to be shaved one summer for a medical reason, asked them to take off the rest of his coat, rather than leave him patchy. He was so happy for the next few weeks, acting like a little rough-neck terrier rather than a prissy pretty-boy. We were surprised that his coat came back as thick & gorgeous as before. He just had a summer of enjoying a buzz-cut.
The animals only need to be patient for a few hours, but the groomer has to keep her patience for her entire career!! Amazing channel thanks for sharing all your expert knowledge on how to maintain a well-kept pet!!

I have a Golden Retriever. For a long time, he enjoyed the dog parks. There were so many Doodle mixes! One of the people I got talking to was a groomer. The groomers in my neighborhood of New York City got together and decided how they would price the different types of grooming sessions for these Doodle mixes. Some of the dogs were never brushed except by the groomer, so hours had to be spent brushing the dog. One of the dogs the groomer that I spoke to had had BOTH types of guard hairs - one that kept growing and one that didn't. The owners never bushed the dog and took the dog to the groomer only 2 or 3 times a year. The poor dog needed hours of brushing. She finally had to tell the owner that it wasn't fair to the dog and that they should bring him in for a brushing every few weeks. I had never considered how long takes to brush out these dogs!

Most people that like a breed hate how people mix them with poodles because then they destroy the perfect and beautiful breed when they make a mix of dogs that have completely different coats, personality, jobs, and what medical issues to look out for. I have seen the damage it has done to kind golden retrievers turning them into necrotic messes with major allergies. I used to own a multipoo and she got diabetes and other issues because of being from a backyard breeders which all doodles are. My Samoyed from a registered breeder has a completely different temperament then her backyard bred version. I work with other pure bred dogs then a doodle of the two breeds and I'm so sad what has happened to these beautiful breeds especially the poodles. The larger the doodle the more problems seem to come up with there hips and joints, allergies, skin issues and temperament. I have seen more aggression from doodles Goldendoodle in particular then any other breed I work with and I work with staffys, mastiffs, German shepherds, and doberman, extra. People get told by the breeder they are easy to train and laid back dogs but poodles are a water retriever and so is a golden, labs are gun dogs, Australian Shepherd herding and Bernese were all around farm dogs. They need lots of mental stimulation and training which most people don't do at least for the ones I have worked with. 😢
