I've tried some in pink, orange and lemon yellow. By far the lemon yellow seemed to be the favorite. I like your addition of the partridge legs, Matt.
@FlyTyer1948 Жыл бұрын
Orange and lemon yellow sound like really nice eye candy, and I’d like to tie some. I’ve been trying similar shades on Marabou Muddlers in hopes they will work for the Healing waters chapter I tie for. Have you had good feedback from the fish on yours?

Cool to hear Jim! I'm definitely going to try this on the Savage this weekend. As for the craziness I just tied for Friday's video... I'm not sure if I can bring myself to tie that one. :-)

I just came across this video and I had to giggle a little because I tied this very fly at 3 o'clock this morning, I started tying 4 months ago and I love the pheasant tail I've probably caught over 200 trout and salmon on different color variations of this fly. I've learned to use my imagination and nothing has to be totally original.

Good morning Matt. ☕️time. Like the addition of color to that nymph. Be interesting to see which color performs best in the Savage. I’d bet on the orange in most of our water. Taking the trailer in tomorrow for prep to go south in a month. My last fishing trip up here will be this weekend. Have a great week.

Outstanding to hear John! Good luck on the water. And with your trailer. I'm itching to take mine out again. Penn's Creek seems like ages ago, when it was really about two weeks!

Nice simple fly Matt. I think that might be good for some panfish too. As far as the pike go I'll be camped not too far from a good pike river all next spring and at least half of the summer. Let me know if you want to go pike fishing and if you come around the middle to the end of June we could maybe catch the hex hatch on the Ausable. Keep the good stuff coming.

Heck yeah Dave! I'm going to remember this note as the Adirondacks are on my camping list for next spring. I've made a trip to the Smoky Mountains almost every year lately, but haven't yet made the trek to upstate NY. :-)

Nice looking PT Matt. Orange and shrimp pink ice dubs are my confidence colors when doing Frenchies. I'm sure they both will do great in this PT as well. You could even do a Pearl flashback on this to make it look even flashier. Thanks for sharing, and good luck on the Savage! Can't go wrong with this pattern.

I think "Billy in the Lowground" got you pumped up for fishing! All that fiddling and my caffeine consumption ☕☕☕☕☕got me pumped! Nice tie Matt. I especially like the way you tied the legs, I use that method a lot, sort of like a take on DeFeo's throat hackle method. Oh yeah, cool on your daughter joining that jrotc in school. Have a great week!
@SavageFlies Жыл бұрын
Hahaha! Yes indeed Joe. I just finished Friday's video. I'm not sure what you're going to think about be straying from the classics to tie a Pistol Pete. But after the second request in recent months for it, I thought why now? It was fun at least. :-)

@@SavageFliesThey named a fly after Maravich? 🏀 🤔Oh no, you mean that single prop woolly bugger!That's fine by meno heretics here. I love 'em all. There's a few flies with spinner blades just like for conventional fishing. That "Clouser with a blade" Coyote (Road Runner jig :o) I like Mann's Little George for spin fishing. Greg Senyo's Gangsta Intruder, has a small blade that clanks against the shank for noise and a little flash. I think they made small Flatfish lures for fly fishing, now there's Todd's Wiggle Minnow and a few others. Looking forward to your video Matt👍

You're most welcome Kevin! Of all the materials you mentioned, rabbit would make the best dubbing. But honestly, I'd just use straight up synthetic yarn in a bright color. Mix it up and you'll be good to go!

Just wondering how Atlantic salmon were around everyone’s areas this year?Newfoundland had a strange year.June was terrible in the East,July there were fish but it was way too hot and dry.A few late unscheduled rivers saved August and I had the good luck to hook 13 from Sept 1 to 6.Definitely made up for the first 2 months.Lots of strange salmon activity and different opinions on the year here.Anyone?
