Started tying this pattern and use it as a point fly in high and fast water ! Definitely a killer fly ,and won’t leave home without it !

Nice tie. I tie mine very similar to yours and except I use gray ostrich herl for the thorax. Works great.

I'm not dogging your fly. Looks good. What I'm saying is if you tie it thin it catches way more fish 🐟 . The reason I say this is because all bug's are thin not fat.

Funny you said that. I was looking a a tribute page to a Norwegian fly tier. He was credited to tying many successful brown trout and grayling flies. I noticed that every one of his flies had that same skinny profile. Got me thinking.

FYI, this would be called a Sawyer PT, after Frank Sawyer, the designer of the PT. The American PT has legs.
@GrayShark182 жыл бұрын
This is the “easy” variant of the American PT since it doesn’t have the wing case and legs. It further deviates by substituting a peacock dubbing for the herl. The Sawyer PT didn’t have peacock herl and also only used copper wire to bind down the PT fibers, no thread.

I like to tie this with a red hotspot thread collar. What do you think about that?
