A MOIST FF16 THEORY TO PUDDLE YOUR BRAIN!! | Secret Of Leviathan & Her Dominant | Final Fantasy 16

FINAL FANTASY THEORY AND LORE JUNKIES COME FORTH! We did it! We DEFINITLY... but maybe... possibly, but perhaps not did it! We trawled the sea floor of FF16 content, all the trailer scenes from Awakening, Dominance & Ambition. Every snippet of Yosh P release information and discussion on Final Fantasy 16. All in search of the elusive Loch Ness... err... Eikon of water Leviathan. The only summon in this game that is a part of 'The Host', the games over arching prophecy, but we have not seen in any trailer. My theory snoot tingled and me/gingey went on the hunt. We speculated alot on Leviathan and why they are keeping this Eikon a secret. Our surprise reaction when we suddenly stumbled across not just where Leviathan exists, but also HER dominant! The Eikon Dominants that we know so far up to the Ambition trailer are: Clive - Ifrit | Joshua - Phoenix | Benedikta - Garuda | Huge - Titan | Ol' man stoney - Ramuh | Barnabus - Odin | Dion - Bahamut | Jill - Shiva | ??? - Leviathan
We getting to the bottom of that ??? in this vid. Be sure to watch this summon theory until the end and give it a thumbs up if you think we're onto something. Or even if you just enjoyed the road. We did a big hour long Final Fantasy 16 story vid just. to see up the FF16 lore. But this theory feels like the most classic Final Fantasy Peasant vid I've produced in an age and it was an absolute blast to make.

If Jill was taken to secure peace between the warring north, it doesn't make sense if Shiva is the ONLY dominant to belong to the north. That's not a peace exchange that's just Rosaria winning the battle and taking a prize. But, if they also have Jill's older sibling as Leviathan then it feels a lot more reasonable.

I like this logic, especially as it could make whoever the levi dominant, pretty resentful against Jill that she essentially got to live a cosy life with the Rosfields while they were left in a broken nation

@@FinalFantasyPeasant Jill's a HOSTAGE. Traditionally, that means "If you misbehave towards us, we'll kill the hostage." If anything, the Leviathan Dominant (assuming she's not dead... or a YOUNGER sibling even less able to fight than young Jill) should be more resentful that they had to give up a hostage - and a Dominant - to begin with.

I'm thinking that Jill is Shiva. After the time-skip Clive and a team was looking for Shiva. Clive will re-unite with Jill while finding out she is Shiva. Just my theory.

The dominance trailer also implies Dion doesn't agree with the emperor as he says "a war would plunge all of the valisthea into chaos." Later in the trailer we hear the emperor reply that we can rebuild that for every citizen lost another can be born and homes rebuilt, the empire will live on. This definitely paints the picture of Dion not wanting a war.

I honestly felt the same, the way his expression was all frustrated and wanting to argue against the wishes of his King/Father but all the pressure and expectations on his shoulders practically forces him to stop talking and to get with the program with whatever whims the Empire (King/Father) wants.

Nice nice catch. There were many voices and lines i havent connected but now following that line. I defo see that impression. Which kinda means Dion is not embodying a god complex Bahamut. Which is interesting. Do the dominants get picked or does the eikon do the picking? Some seem former, others latter. But if its eikons, do they pick someone who represents the type of person who's 'will' they want to be expressed through. So is this a calmer Bahamut? its still curious how child plays in. The description is the emperor is the embodyment of the one true deity. But if thats a goddess figure, then surely the girl is emperor? Old man seems to be a power hungry a-hole leveraging kids

@@FinalFantasyPeasant Based on voice lines and the fact the game is taking heavily from ff14 as inspiration I kinda think Dion as the Dominant of light represents order/stasis wanting to keep things balanced but realitively the status quo. Meanwhile his seeming opposite is Barnabas the dominant of darkness which seems to represent Chaos/Change. Barnabas want's the status quo gone and a new order seemingly implied to do what he must to get it.

I’m thinking Leviathan’s dominant went rogue and possibly sank their home kingdom considering the dominants are looked at as weapons of mass destruction OR that kingdom is possibly using their magic to put some kind of veil over them. Third possibility is that their kingdom operates in secret underwater. Maybe Clive fights Leviathan’s dominant as a secret optional super boss.

I like this idea! Maybe after they 'fell', in that state of desperate subjugation they turned to some pretty desperate measures. If Sanbreque ends up taking 2/3 of the sea and are clearly the superior neighbouring super power. What would stop them taking the other 1/3? Creating some sort of veil, fog or doing something in secret could really play

There is also that shot with Odin/Barnabas where it seems he's walking at the bottom of the see with the water split in the background, Moses-style. I think Leviathan and some city is underwater, a sort of Atlantis, and we eventually get there

So I rewatched the Dominance trailer and we hear Barnabas ask "what are we, what are the dominants? The power we wield it breaks us it unmakes so its immaculate aspect might reveal itself, the Eikon". We also hear him say "I unite the dominants so we might bring an end to the strife and found a new order to see us to tomorrow". I believe Barnabas knows of the old tale of the host and wishes to make it real and save the world with him as ruler.

Hmmm that line! I forgot about it. So is it implying that they become 'immaculate' only after they've totally broken down and lost their humanity? Do they end up perma-eikon? Surely turning to stone is not the only fate that awaits and Barnabus seems pretty ready to let go of his own humanity

@@FinalFantasyPeasant My running theory is that the host is "Eikion" and that is the immaculate aspect. Dominants are actually parts to this one true god being. I mean the japanese version of the newest trailers say 1500 years ago the gods fell/died instead of using the word predecessors in english. To me this sorta implies the host was sundered or split into the other Eikons or that they are somehow linked to each other as a singular being or force. Admittedly I'm probably stretching but it's still tin foil hat season.

I think the line "what are we..." belongs to Clive. If you hear him talk at the start of Ambition trailer to Ramuh's Dominant, it's the same voice.

I would be totally down for them to be hiding the marketing of Leviathan is possibly because it is related to a crystal buried in the ocean at the heart of the maelstrom and its dominant is a slight levity bringing and roguishly eccentric pirate captain. I'm thinking a Rikku, Selphie, Yuffie sort of homage/evolution. An Eikon representing those who reject all nations and lands for a lifetime of freedom on the seas!

I believe that Leviathan is part some side story quest chain instead of the main story. Looking at all the trailers you can basically see Clive using the powers of all the eikons except for Bahamut and Leviathan. Bahamut might be one of the final bosses (not the final boss). Maybe Leviathans dominant have chosen to stay hidden from the Empire and all other nations to avoid conflict as he/she just wanna be left alone. Thats why i believe Clive will encounter Leviathans dominant in a side story instead and maybe it will tie into the main story, but is also missable.

@@ryan20xx70 I thought that initially too but now methinks it may refer to some Midgardsormr like Eikon or that obligatory FF Seraphim silhouette -"Eikon of Eikons" tier - final boss looking BEAST in that Eikons painting. The FF 16 lore that has been revealed and hinted so far has so so many subtle references to the entirety of the FF franchise as a sort of collective unconscious that a Seraphim Eikon representing a false supreme "God" (Demiurge) feels all too guaranteed So far FF 16 seems to be looking to take the crown away from FF14 as most meta of mainline Final Fantasy entries on the whole of the franchise. The FF Remake project gets to keep the crown of being the most meta sequel to a mainline entry for me though.

@@Locomotion94 My hope is that FF16 redeems what FF15 tried to do with the Eikons as a group with conflicting interests in the face of their potential prophesized extinction that played out behind the scenes of the more immediate human conflicts. Think of it like the writers of FF trying to get you to empathize how death may be perceived and reacted to by the aspects of your body that operate beyond your awareness to keep you world/body alive (ie cells, bacteria, organs represented as Eikons) yet are still connected to the "world tree" or "aether network" that is our nervous system where we also (as represented by human characters) manifest from and react to coming death/extinction in our own separate way.

From my understanding in Biblical terms, "from the North" usually means a nation who has great power, who is peaceful for a time and then, when the time is right, eventually uses that power to try and conquer "the chosen land". But as of this moment, I believe Leviathan and the Crystal are in the waters of the North, possibly hiding in the bay. So perhaps Leviathan is not a threat at first glance, but just may become (or already is, though hidden) imbued with a lust for power or somesuch, or perhaps Leviathan may even be rogue-esque (like in XV)? For in the Bible, Leviathan is another name for the serpent/the devil/Satan- one who is the king of pride. But now, when thinking naturally, I would assume that Shiva would be of the North, perhaps where "Jill was taken from her homeland at a tender age to become a ward of Rosaria"?... On second thought, on the official FFXVI website, it says Jill was "Born in the fallen Northern Territories", and is she not the Dominant of Shiva? 🤨🤔... So then, perhaps Leviathan could be of the neutral kingdom of the Crystalline Dominion and thus why we see no play time with her, and that possibly her abode is in the whirlpool/chasm/whatever it may be down just below? 🙃 That Crystal is also called Drake's Tail, and does not Leviathan resemble just that? And I for one, would love to know what is at the center of the The Crystalline Dominion's flag (also the flag looks... ice inspired 🤨? {maybe just Crystal}). I am also curious of The Dhalmekian Republic's flag, especially considering that it has 5(?) elements in it's construction which are all based off of the 5 ruling states from which the members of its ruling parliament are drawn... The elements that I see in the flag are (starting from bottom left going clockwise) lighting, wind, fire, earth... but I cannot tell which one that last one is... SO EXCITING 🤤🤤🤤

I posted this to the ff16 subreddit. I'm pretty sure I know who the Leviathan Dominant is. 0:54 Timestamp for the Dominance trailer. I'm pretty sure this is Leviathan 0:57 Timestamp of the Dominance trailer. Barnabas is making a stink face. 4:00 Timestamp of the Ambition trailer. Barnabas is shown in the same spot as the Dominance trailer, during the scene where each of the dominants are being shown. This is the DOMINANCE trailer. It would make sense to include every dominant right? Barnabas(?) says in this same scene "The chaos he would reap would sweep all of Valisthea into the abyss" Barnabas is speaking about Leviathan. The abyss is referencing the ocean. He Uses a spear - fishing, trident, etc. I mean come on Would love to know your thoughts?

I think the mystery is playing double duty from both an in game and meta perspective. Incorporating the mystery of the sea into the story is a really cool idea and will probably a nice surprise, but I also think Yoshi-P is trying to avoid a similar situation that XIV faced. A pretty big tsunami hit Japan during the post-ARR content, and they pushed back leviathan’s reintroduced to the game. To avoid another situation like that, I think they’re purposefully going to keep Leviathan out of the marketing.

If you look at the first trailer we see Joshua bestows the phoenix powers to Claive and we latter see Claive using the Phoenix powers during a fight with the dragoon soldier and while Claive is still young.

The Iron Kingdoms (an island nation) does not have a Dominant, it is possible that the Dominant that they are executing everytime one is born in their country is actually the Dominant of Leviathan.

Hey Pez, love the work you do and the recent vids with El Ginge, but would you be able to possibly do a couple theory vids alone now and then? I ask because I remember how masterful you were at going down a rabbit hole with a single train of thought and bringing it all together. Your FF15 theory videos were incredibly good, it made my FF heart sing. Anyways I’d love you to do some solo vids now and then, I just think it will be nice to see you tangent and do your thing without getting sidetracked by conversation. I also get the sense El Ginge (who I’m sure is a big and knowledgeable FF fan) isn’t anywhere as excited as you (or I) which sometimes makes the video lose the FF love/craze energy.

Just an observation but the supposed Leviathan dominant has a masculine looking profile…it’s hard to tell with the quality of course. The character has long hair and an earring but that’s all still very likely features of a male character. Could be more of a brother figure to Jill…who knows! :0

Leviathan could also be brother. Also, maybe Clive isn't actually Rosfield but one of two twin brothers smuggled out of the Iron Kingdom to avoid abortion.

I'd like to think that Clive is a Rosfield, but instead of a Dominant, he's something entirely new (or old and prophesied). A Dominant of Dominants maybe? It certainly seems like he'll be able to wield the powers of multiple Eikons at once, although whether it's because they were given to him by the eikons in question or if it was because he beat them in combat and forcefully took them.
