Just take a moment.
This music is probably by far one of the most important pieces of my entire life, and I've listened to it a lot.
Yeah, I get it. You're probably upset that there's no real machinima.
But just take a moment. To reflect.
A small disclaimer: I don't make any money off of my videos, these are all done out of love and in my own free time as a fun thing to do, so if you get any ads, I apologize. I don't know how to remove them, but just know I'm not making any money from them, and never will, because I don't want to.

I see a lot of people asking what the music is in the comments. It's "To the Gateway" from Super Mario Galaxy. Also holy crap I can't believe this blew up, if you subscribe please tell me what you want to see, it'd help out a ton! EDIT: New video similar to this one, it's about my nostalgia with the Wii U, go check it out, tell me what you think, if its good, if its garbage, and what I should change the next time around kzbin.info/www/bejne/gpWcqXd8bNSqd7M

Watching this made me realize how hopeless Mario must've felt during his adventure in 64 or at least I feel like he would. Like don't you think there were just moments while he was in a mission or after he finished a really daunting one where he's just thinking "Damn I don't know if I can do this" or he just starts thinking about all the rest of the stars he has to get and gets de-motivated. Sure he has super abilities but at the end of the day he's pretty much just a normal human who has to go through these dangerous territories that just become more dangerous and difficult to navigate as the game goes on and he can't quit because he knows his friends are being held captive by bowser. I know I'm looking way too deep into a simple video game made almost 30 years ago but I just think it's interesting to think about it in that perspective.

No, but I do think nostalgia is paired with it, but I still do play the game on a mario 3d all-stars pack and also made me feel melancholic or bittersweet. Kind of feeling like I might have lost something before, but I don't know what like a piece of childhood memory or a check or turning point in life. I guess perhaps it's just the song, which is pretty sad itself much similar to like the track Luma, that along with being paired with the gloomy yet beautiful scenic view and mario sitting alone (almost like a mourn) adds to it.

These last few years in my mid 20's have been hard for me too, even though nothing 'bad' happened... It's just the feeling of becoming a true adult, you're changing and so are the things around you. It feels like life is starting to slow down and you're accepting what your situation is. You've got less freedom and have more responsibilities weighing you down that take up your time. Some things you grew up liking seem less interesting and close friends/family grow distant. I miss being a kid/young adult for sure, never felt that sentiment now more than ever.

Don’t get stuck in nostalgia. Life can be infinitely better as you age. If you believe you’ve peaked, you’re not trying to live in the best moments there could be. Some things are better left in the past than to be scrutinized under a microscope every 10 years.

Old 3D graphics are amazing like that. I noticed that when I was playing the Resident Evil 4 Remake and the game felt like... CGI-movie? And then I went back and played the old original Resident Evil 4 and that one felt like an 80s movie with real puppets and animatronics. It's like old graphics is more real because everything is sharper and you can tell you are playing a videogame while new games makes you feel like you are not actually there - you are just watching something even though you are in control. It's so hard to explain but it's as if the less a game tries to convince you it is real - the more real it becomes.

Gaming has been spiritual for me throughout my growth as an individual. The mixture of the stories, the visuals, the sounds, the music, and being able to do stuff in the game all together puts you into a world of your own; one where you get to observe things that also give you insights into your own life. Videos like these have been my go-to's for this kind of thing lately. To kind of vibe out with all the characters I grew up with, knowing that my fellow gamers are doing the same as we all ride this journey through existence giving you a sense of community. Oh yeah, for sure we need lots more of these kind of things. Both short quick videos like this, and long ones that contain mixes of music that put you into the state where you can reflect on this.

It's moments like these that make me realize that times have changed. The world is different now, and I've changed a lot from the days of watching this kind of content obsessively. I'm almost 18 now. Responsibilities are becoming more plentiful. I do not want to grow up, yet life chose for me. I have a boyfriend now, so many things have happened that I'm grateful for. I recently came back to sm64 to rekindle my childhood hours of the wii virtual console. Exploring the castle and it's secrets for hours on end. It's why i have such an obsession with some of the levels. The game is so surreal in a way i cannot describe. I wish i was a kid again, wandering the empty castle walls, always learning and discovering. Stay true out there everyone, and make sure to always let that kid side of you be a part in your life. Don't kill your childhood when you're older. Much love, to y'all. Peace ✌️

Everytime I looked his way to play...make me look him like a god of videogames. Now, It's me the one Who plays the game like that, or perhaps even better... Every part from the game, Every music and Every place remind me diferente things from Those times... I don't realized until these days the diferent that I'am, the diferent that the world is Now. Back in then, I always tried to be the Best in school, I did'nt has friends, I Just entertained playing Mario games withouth worries... I don't know, all of This make me think about how the world and the persons can change, and how diferent can be your life today if you compare it with your life in the future, This also make me think how you need to apreciate the simple things in the life, today could look like something silly or not important, but tomorrow... Edit: thanks so much for the 360 likes everyone now only if the video uploader would heart this comment A few nights ago I was with my mom and Dad was working late and I took the trash out and took my dog outside for potty and then I stopped when I was about to head back inside and it was starting to get cold outside and the traffic noise was very far away and it was dark outside and the neighborhood looked astonishingly beautiful and I stood there for a few minutes and I let my dog inside and I told Mom about outside so mom and me stood outside for a few minutes with my dog sitting by my feet and Mom said it is a nice night and Mom went back inside and it was just me and my dog outside for a few more minutes before we went back inside

Im in a really unique spot in my life right now. Thanks to my hard work, I have been able to get all of my school classes out the way and essentially graduate early. In a couple of months, I'll be moving out and heading to college, which is 2 hours away from my home. I still have a lot to figure out, but I really want to let myself slow down and enjoy the time I have left. I'll still be making the effort to save a lot of money up for college, but I can't let the last few months of my childhood past me by. I just hope all the decisions I make are good ones for me.

I picked up super Mario 64 again two days ago. It was one of my first memories, watching my brother play whomp’s fortress before we went to the kitchen to eat pancakes that mom made. When I was little I wasn’t good at games and rarely finished them until I was at least 18; then I started actually playing things through to the end. I’m almost 30 now, and I can play games much better than I used to. I’m trying to get every star and I’m so happy whenever I see more stars fill out in each stage. So much has changed, and yet stayed the same. Dire Dire Docks/Jolly Roger Bay soundtrack is still my favourite song in the whole world. I paint pictures of the sea, and my whole life I’ve yearned to be underwater like the secret stage. In my dreams I’m wandering through funny rooms similar to the liminal space like areas of Peach’s Castle - that’s why I’ve always found them comforting rather than scary. I never realized how much comfort SM64 has given me through my life and it’s a magical space I can visit whenever I want. But not to go back in time - I made the choice to go forward. And I choose to bring these happy memories with me in the journey ahead and use them to create more beauty and comfort.

I just turned 30, and also got laid off on the same day. My dad has cancer, my dog passed away recently, and it feels like the world is passing me by. But at least some things stay the same, like this game. Life can be real shitty sometimes, but I'm glad that I can always come back to games like this and just sit and immerse myself in happy memories. Thank you for this lovely, chill video ♥️

Might be due to listening to this at midnight, but it makes me feel so relaxed and tired that I almost feel like I could be sucked right into the world. The night sky, the falling snow, the glowing lights, the _music_ , all of it was very lulling, and I imagined being in Mario’s place, sitting on an abandoned bridge in the brisk cold, gazing at the event of glowing snow that happens on Cool Cool Mountain at nighttime… Thank you so much for the beautiful video! 😁

Hey Mario, mind if I sit here for a bit? I wonder if you remember me. We've been homies for a long time. We went through a lot of adventures together, but I'm 32 now, and after years of abusing alcohol and weed, forgetting myself, I somehow found this girl. She's a bit older than me, and she lives across the atlantic, but I think she's the one. Like THE one. The kinda girl I'd want to spend the rest of my life with. Get married, have kids, you know. Grow old together. Pushing me to be a better man, by just being around me, pushing me to be the best me I can be. The kinda girl you want to shield from all that's bad in this world. But in reality, she's the one giving you strength. Giving me a reason to wake up in the morning. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about, spending all this time rescuing Peach so often. Anyway, I never really expected to find anyone like that really. It's strange, and it's terrifying. I'm on the edge of a cliff and I have to make a decision. Either stay in my comfort zone on that cliff or take a leap of faith and see where all this takes me. It's hard to make that choice, so much responsability, but I think if I didn't, I'd feel regret forever, wondering what if? Man she makes me happy, like no one ever did before, and I love her so much. She's such a wonderful human being, and I feel grateful to have met her... still, it's scary. But all my life you've inspired me to be strong, and to face life's challenges with a smile on my face. To stand up for what is right and do the right thing. So I think that's what I'll do. Thanks Mario, for all these adventures together, teaching me to be a positive person, a good man. I'm not at your level yet, but I strive to do my best to reach it. Until our next adventure my friend.

Thank you for making this video. ❤ I kinda really need this right now… I have been bottling up my emotions lately and just watching this video made me cry. If any of you don’t mind, I’ll just place this here: I really miss my childhood so much… And I missed how simple life used to be… My dad who is my best friend in the whole world who always went to cool places with me and played games with me and and would had me watch him play Wii games. Today, he got accepted into Grad School for Speech Pathology and Communication Disorders, so once he gets his Master’s Degree, he can help out people who have communication disorders. I am Autistic who because of my IEP, I learned how to adapt better with my Autism and live with it a little better. My dad can never be more proud of me which is why he wants to help people who are like me. ❤ But the whole grad school thing is going to make his schedule IMPOSSIBLY BUSY… Which means, he’ll be studying nonstop for two years. (It’s CRUCIAL to get an A, if you’re planning to work in a field for Speech Pathology.) And as much as I love him so much, I am not looking forward for two years of not having my dad be fully present because of the studying. I know it’s for the best, but the thought of two long years with all members of the household being physically present but not quite present. I don’t think I can be able to take it. Alongside with dealing with college. And lately, my mental health has been declining… I really want to just have someone to really listen to me with a warm embrace. But then again, “This is real life. Womp. Womp. Cry about it.” is what everyone else would probably say. I know my family will always support me no matter what, but I really don’t want to burden them… And I am HORRIBLE with phrasing whenever I speak, so my commentary could end up being misinterpreted as “whining”. So I try to bottle everything up, which can lead to massive irritability issues on my part. And the fact that I literally do not have insurance if I do want help is just so disheartening… Sorry if this was too long of a comment. I hope this gives at least someone here some sort of closure that we are collectively having that sense of longing to go back to simpler times. (By the way, I’m not speaking on behalf of everyone, but for the ones who would understand.) I really hope I find help and get better and feel better from dealing with such strong emotions… ❤️‍🩹

I'm not enough. I never feel like I'm enough for anybody in my life, or anything I do. For every good thing that I do, I screw something up and get scolded. It's to a point where I don't even know what to do anymore. There are days where I just want to give up and finally give in, but I feel morally obligated not to for the sake of my loved ones. The worst part about it is I know I don't want to die, but the thought of _not living_ feels so comforting that I can't help but consider it. If God really does exist, and is seeing me type this at four in the morning, then God: *I want to go home now...*

I hope things get better for you soon, my guy, please don’t feel like a failure or anything, you aren’t. Everyone makes mistakes, it’s a natural part of life, and it’s a part of learning and growing. Even the most successful/put together people make mistakes. As far as feeling likeyou aren’t enough, it might be worth it to look into why you feel that way. I’d recommend doing that with like a therapist or something though, cuz sometimes when we try to look inwards, it’s confusing. Therapists make it less confusing. Also, you are enough, since the minute you were born into this world you’ve been enough. I hope you can see that for yourself, one day, man, I really do May you be blessed with a lifetime of happiness and peace, bro

With everyone commenting things, i think i might as well share my struggles rn. This last year has been rough for me, im in my teenage years and have lost many people around with death or simply losing touch. Many people like my bestfriend who i loved deeply, i lost because of my stupid self and my thoughts. I may have developed a crush on her and thus, decided we should stop being friends as it was the only solution i could think of. I started highschool with no friends, losing all of them in the prior summer and school year. I never felt more alone. I soon made more friends, but ill never stop thinking of my old ones, especially my bestfriend. This correlates to how i feel about many of these nostalgic games i care deeply about. Wishing for an older time. Games like mario 64 and many n64 games for that matter guve me comfort for some reason. I didnt grow up with these games yet i still feel nostalgic. From the solemn music and atosphere of kirby64s quiet forest, paper marios end credits staring off into a firework lit sky with bittersweet music, or majoras masks depressing auras and themes. These games iv felt have changed m life, im not sure how. I somehow feel comfort in these old games. Maybe things will get better, maybe soon. In the meantime, at least i have mario.

I wish I could be a kid again... I hate absolutely everything about the now. How I'm more frail than when I was young and can't run like I used to anymore, how there's so much more to care about, how I was so, so much happier... I hate adulthood, it's problems after problems, and even if you do nothing to instigate them, problems still come knocking at your door. I'm just so sick of it all, I wish there was a reset button, or that I could simply stop existing without anyone ever remembering I existed, if I can be selfish for the smallest of days. I just don't see my worth anymore, ppl could even love me but if I can't love myself what's that worth for? Everyday is turmoil and I see no end to my misery. And not only me, everything in this rotten world is miserable. I hope I can one day read this and have a laugh at how depressing these times were, if I get to make it there that is.

It is only needed a moment, a moment to realise what has, had and will happen. Today, luckily everything has been around Super Mario Galaxy. When i was little, about 6-7 yo, i was completing this masterpiece for the first time, i was firstly surprised by how a little silly plumber game in the space could be so good, from mechanics, level design, to music; i was just a little silly boy, didnt even expect to have some relationship with games, but music is all what it takes to make this possible. Getting back to when i was about to defeat bowser for the last time, little i knew what scenes would come after beating bowser. First, surprised by how giantness and aloneless feeling could make me nostalgic even without playing it before, the universe is exploding, there is no getting back anymore. And then, The Scene. And what a scene, all the lumas sacrificing themselves so mario could get back to his land. All our little silly friends, gone, for our own good. Little i knew what that feeling music gives. After that point of the game i learned what was that feeling. Im not comparing it to losing someone but, after beating SMG2 for the first time, around 8 yo. My Wii stopped working. For context, that same wii was the first console ive played in my life, almost i was 2 years old the first time ive touched that piece of magic. Ive thought that i couldnt take it back, replay just a bit of everything i knew, replay all the final scenes from SMG. I felt it strong enough to convinve my parents to not throw it out, didnt know why, didnt know how to make it work again. Almost 8 years after, i made it work again. Last summer 2023, i did everything possible in my hand to solve the broken little heart of my 8 yo me. Bought and HDMI adapter new controller and came back to that era. I was so happy, not proud, didnt do anything apart from taking the initiative to take it down to my TV. The first 2 games ive "bought" (by "bought" everyone knows what i meaning to), were SMG and SMG2, my top 1 fav games of all time, they are not tied, they are both top 1, it is different. That initiative could not be taken if i didnt listen to both games osts. I still cry hearing them, but, in this case, im crying of happiness, im not asking for something lost. Im asking for a lost era, something impossible to achieve. A moment, just a single moment. A moment could be a second or a year. We all need a moment. Thank you, for the moment youve taken to publish this so everyone can take their moment. Thank you mario too, youve made my life better, just if we could talk to you, mario. Thanks for all, sorry for nothing

It took me way too long to appreciate the nostalgic and somber beauty of this OST from Mario Galaxy. They couldn't have composed a better opening track than this! Listening to this now, as an almost 23 year old young adult, it feels like the lullaby of my childhood.
