Easier to walk on cobblestone than ice😂, and would be more inclined to walk in plus 25C than minus 25C😢! Thanks for the pricing info.

Things you should know. There are doctors here that make house calls at a very reasonable price. All the pharmacies have free delivery to your house. There are close to 15 spas near Atotonilco. All with hot mineral water. They are all nice, but some have amszingly good facilities. The cost for vet care is really cheap compared to the US/Canada. Just to get a regular checkup is 400 pesos, a female dog spaying is around 1500 pesos. Cheap.

We visited the Atotonilco area and saw the spas! We didn't have time to stop, but it is on the bucket list now.

This is such a “Canadian” review! Haha. Not a single negative thing. Not a single Con. What were the cons? Or was it all butterflies and rainbows? I was really hoping for a more balanced review.

Sorry to disappoint you! We do believe we have a balanced view overall if you watch all of our videos. Our experience with our residency is far from positive overall. Also, the cost of pizza and other foods!

My husband lived there before I met him in Austin and he wants us to move there. He also does not have one negative thing to say. He loved it.

What medicine did your friend recommend? I was lucky to find chewable Pepto Bismol when it hit me in Oaxaca last year. In March, I’m bringing my wife to SMA for her 1st trip to Mexico, and I want to come prepared, just in case 🤢

Mexico Governmental agencies don't take cash, generally they will give you a document that you take to the bank and then you return with the receipt from the bank. We look forward to seeing you and Laura. In Mexico your better off walking because things are so close. A lot of places are a mix of housing and business. Women wearing high heeled shoes on cobblestone streets is an amazing thing to watch. Rent in Mexico for a year and even if you find that an area is not right for you move to another place n Mexico for a year.-Marc

Our immigration facilitator warned us against paying cash at the bank. She said often that complicated things when you get to the immigration office. You are right, lots of options!

Hola Mike, Laura. Gracias for the SMA video. Very helpful. Question RE Montezuma... is the sickness a one-time thing or is it a recurring thing every time you visit? i.e., once you endure the experience, are you immune or tolerant of the bug the next time you visit?
@WadingIntoRetirement
@WadingIntoRetirement 2 ай бұрын
I don't believe there is an immunity to it. I think our guts are just not accustomed to some of the bacteria that are common in Mexican food and drink. Maybe over time it wouldn't be an issue as we become more accustomed?

How did you get your bank statements stamped and certified? My B of A bank did not know of this but the VP of the bank stamped it with a B of A stamp and signed it. But my American Express savings account is an online account and they told me they could not do that. Any advice on what I can do?

@@WadingIntoRetirement First world infrastructure, World class medical care, modern condos and of course food. Including a modern condo or house you will struggle to spend $2500 a month.

Hi guys! Have you considered driving with the dogs and be snowbirds? Would the Airbnb you stayed at be pet friendly?
@WadingIntoRetirement
@WadingIntoRetirement 8 ай бұрын
The Airbnb was pet friendly. They charged a cleaning fee at the end of the stay, but we would be ok with that. We certainly have considered the "snowbird" model. It has its advantages, we are just not sure if driving 4-5 days with two big digs multiple times a year is a good thing. Our viewpoint may change, and often does!

Hola Justine! I've noticed that you are a newby to these various "Moving to Mexico!" videos. If you have minimal cash flow get a friend that wants to do the same thing. You can live together close enough to the border where it's not that a big of a deal to do border runs every 180 days if you can't afford the economical requirements for residency. It's legal and I have friends that have lived here for years and have never bothered to go through the residency process. A couple or a couple of friends could easily live a great affordable lifestyle here for less than $1500us per month. I'm solo and have a Resident Visa. I could easily afford to rent a larger home and throw more money around if I felt like it but I chose the smaller home less than a mile to beach for half as much and live like a Rey (King) on less than $1200us total and that includes private health care. Best thing I've ever done for myself! Don't wait or the time will never seem to be just right.... Mucha suerte desde la hermosa Ensenada!

The SMA metro area has a population of 170,000, with about 10% expats. Walking the city from end to end takes 45 minutes.

No, more than 100,000 people live in the county of San Miguel. It has a feel of a small town mixed with a small city. When you live here long enough, everyone knows everyone. If you really walk from one side of the town to the other it will take about an hour.
