I have no idea how you manage to do something social Thursday, Friday, Saturday, AND Sunday, two weeks in a row! Just hearing you say that made me tired lol.

Lol, exactly I do one or two social things and I just have to stay in my den and not talk to anyone for weeks

as an italian i definitely understand the “alchol is everywhere” thing. In social situations, being a very shy person, i find it pretty much impossible not to drink, awkwardness pretty much overwhelms me otherwise lol

As a teen, whenever I stopped drinking, I'd just fill a beer bottle with water so. Works great 😉

It's so interesting hearing somebody of the same age talk about their experiences with alcohol. I have cut down massively in the last 18-24 months. I don't think I've noticed any difference physically but mentally, I feel better for it. My hangxiety used to last a week and affect so much of my life. Please continue to talk about this topic :) x

Watching this hungover lol. I totally understand your frustration for not feeling better after quitting alcohol for some time (and actually feeling worse). But I do think the annoying symptoms that you're experiencing now could help you figure out what you can change and actually solve some health issues that you might not have noticed while drinking (like you already saying you're going to the doctor). So I honestly think it will help you feel more in touch with your body and healthier in the long term! Love your vlog as always

Living in the UK and staying sober is so damn difficult, you are doing an incredible job. It’s so helpful to us for you to share your honest experience with it, and definitely makes people feel less alone. Good work and keep at it ❤️

It’s interesting hearing you say you found that quitting drinking didn’t make a difference and actually made you feel WORSE. I actually experienced exactly the same thing, I felt in way better health when I was making worse lifestyle choices. Quit during lockdown last year and noticed that I had a worse feeling of being hungover than when I drank heavily. The long term health benefits do outweigh despite negative symptoms currently. Well done on your journey and for documenting it!! If you can keep going if is worth it even if it doesn’t feel it now, just on a spiritual level it does help. 💓

This is exactly the reason why substance abuse is a symptom of so many different health problem! Self medicating to make health problem that sort of blend into everything else a lot more tolerable. I found that getting sober was a lot easier once I dealt with other health issues that were making it hard to tolerate the world sober.

I love your 168 hours videos. 😊 Personally I have never struggled with alcohol, it has never been a big or important part of my life for different reasons (mostly seeing how it changes some people not for the better and me wanting nothing to do with that). Saying "no thanks" and sticking with non alcoholic beverages was never really something I felt uncomfortable with in social or dining settings. So it is very interesting to me hearing you talk about your experiences with it. Also how things are different in the UK maybe, since I am not from there. I hope you can find a good middle ground. 👍😊

Same. Where I live (Vancouver), drinking isn't a big thing here culturally (many/most people do drink, but it's not a big deal at social gatherings), so I've never really struggled being the non-drinker, except when I was late teens/early twenties.
@THCBpigen92803 жыл бұрын
As someone that does not drink in general: social situations where people drink are generally exhausting. As you as sober person, try to keep up with the energy of those who are drinking. I fail miserably every time, and my view is "while this is very nice, but I am tired and need to get home" I make sure to do it in a polite way and usually end with "enjoy your evening, see you (insert next time I'll see them)"

I have hashimotos so an autoimmune thyroid disease. (Originally just diagnosed as underactive thyroid) I got put on medication before i hit 10 because they could see the upwards trajectory quite clearly in my tests. Though all your symptoms ... especially hairloss is something I struggle to deal with, and i feel like people dont talk about it enough. p.s. always love your 168 hour vids.

Have you also considered Seasonal Affective Disorder (SADs) for you lack of energy? That usually hits this time of year as winter gets closer and it gets darker. I have increased my vitamin D and pulled out my "happy lamp" for the mornings.

I've been struggling with waking up feeling hungover without having drank, cold, hair loss as well and I'm recently discovering post CoVid that I've been having blood pressure, mild sleep apnea, and kidney issues (discovered through daily cuff monitoring and repeated urinalyses). Might be something to check as well! I've started on propranolol and feeling better, hope the same to you soon!

I drink twice a year & normally have a bad reaction. Facial swelling, hives etc so I’m being investigated for an allergy within alcohol. So I am sober for the foreseeable future. I have replaced it with sparkling water with lime & mint. Not alcohol but still a nice treat when needed!

They should medicate above 3. And they actually should never go off tsh only. You need free t3 and free t4 and a tpo test. I’ve lived without a thyroid for 15 yrs and I seem to know more about my own health than most of the drs I’ve seen! Thank god I’ve found a naturopathic dr that actually listens to her patients. Wishing you all the best on your health journey. Hope it’s sorted soon.

It's illegal to advertise alcohol in Norway actually! Not sure what the effect is, but there is something. People are still drinking a lot, but not in the same way. I'd say it's generally either drink to get hammered or 1 beer/glass of wine with friends. None of that crazy pub/bar culture.
@KristanShuford3 жыл бұрын
I never realized how much of my social life revolved around alcohol until I got pregnant and all my close friends figured it out right away cause I just suddenly stopped drinking. I’m lucky to have never struggled with my relationship with alcohol, but while I was pregnant found that mainly I just wanted something more “special” to drink that wasn’t crazy sweet. Wish there were more alcohol free beverages out there, especially at bars and restaurants, to make it easier for those who don’t drink.

My hair has been falling out a lot more these past few months too. Nothing drastic has changed in my life in terms of diet and lifestyle, so I have no clue what is going on with my body. I also heard that there was a link between having Covid and hair loss, but I caught it way back in January, so not sure if this is the cause. Very frustrating!

Yes many researches have proven that it’s because of COVID, and I’ve personally experienced it as well.. but try using Aragan oil it helps

I live in the US and i don't drink and never have. sometimes it REALLY sucks bc so much of being in your 20s is going out and drinking. Sometimes its sucks to be the other person not drinking/ the mentality of other people that think that they have to drink to have a good time. its truly a weird thing

A TSH of 6 is really not subclinical 😳😳😳 waiting until it’s at 10 puts you in unnecessary strain. Can private instead of NHS maybe get you on levothyroxine sooner?

Hi Lucy. I know that you mentioned your hair falling out and I seem to remember you having COVID recently? My friend had COVID a couple of months ago and her hair has started falling out quite a bit. Apparently it's something that can happen following an illness or high temporarute. Very google-able. Thought I'd mention in case it applies to you cc

Lucy- look into the AIP diet (Autoimmune Protocol) it changed my life! You don't have to have an autoimmune issue- it helps with all of the health issues I've heard you describe for years! Get The Paleo Approach by Sarah Ballantyne. It is like a textbook- but tells you about why you continue to have these mystery symptoms. Hope you get things sorted! 💜💜💜
