Nora Birch is a probate lawyer and her husband Toby is an accountant. They have two children, Scarlett and Angus. The family has just recently moved into an upscale neighborhood where Scarlett is having trouble making friends at her new school and her relationship with her parents is strained.
Not long after moving in Angus is kidnapped, the family suspects the weird Emo kid ‘Graeme’ who lives next door. He is questioned by the police but there is not enough evidence to hold him. This prompts Nora and Scarlett to take matters into their own hands…

After reading all comments, before Seth meets lovely neighbour, I remember watching this case on 48 hours. And it was gut wrenching 💔 and yes the family does more than the law enforcement. A testament to all the families dealing in such circumstances. Thanks Johnson Prediction Group for downloading this movie. 🙏☮🍀Happy New Year to all who read this. Cheers 🥂 from Down Under. 🇦🇺

Having been in 67 TV/Film Productions all I can say Bro is TERRIBLE TERRIBLE ACTING. The Only Decent actor was the lead Detective. The guy who looked like a 1960's Hippie. lol ALL the rest were trash. Not Hate Man, Just FACTS. There are Acting Schools in every city in America and at High Schools. Drama Class. These young people need years of classes. Maybe they'll get some parts which work for them. Maybe not. Gene Hackman hated acting and loved WRITING. And he gave the world WONDERFUL MOVIES TO REMEMBER. He retired early New Mexico and writes Books. He is a famous Author. Amazing writer. Joaquin Phoenix has a love hate relationship with acting. Each character he plays takes a piece of his soul. Why he keeps going only he knows the answer. Money? Love over Hate of acting? It's all he really knows? His Music did not sell. His Band did not connect to the Masses. Back to acting.

This movie is way deep and over the top. Talk about taking matters into their own hands. At first I was condemning the mom for kidnapping Seth, but when she went home, and was crying in her son's room, trying to smell his scent on his clothes, I put myself in her position, of how hurt and hollow her heart was, and I thought, I suppose I may have kidnapped Seth too. Because at that point, nothing else mattered, but my child coming home safe, even if it meant I would have to suffer the consequences of my going to jail after. That's a mama bear love for their child. Lol, the sister also had some mama bear love for her brother, too.✌❤🙏

She and her daughter must still be held accountable for holding Seth, assaulting and torturing him. Understanding her despair and what drove her to do what she did, is she that much better than Seth? Two wrongs don't make a right. I am curious to know how the law will see things. Are Seth and his mother dead? I can assume maybe and perhaps not.

Have not finished watching but that women is crazy and nothing justifies such behavior. Doing what she's doing and in front of her daughter!?!? That will leave her with scars for life. What is she teaching her? Violence is the only way to solve things? She is no better than the person who took her soon.

If the mother hadn't done what she did, her son would have abused & dead. Plus, having her daughter team up with her was necessary. Coming together & they found the boy. Mother & her family suffering, both psychology and emotionally. Joyful, they didn't suffer the boy's death, and the little will live with the trauma for the rest of his life. The teenager & mother both twisted.

Though I'm onboard with getting your own justice, there's no such thing as good people other than children who are innocent. Good and bad are so ambiguous and black n white plus they never actually apply 100%. Everyone has many sides and anyone can be pushed to the brink or to their breaking point. Some people just have more of one than the other or they embrace the dark side more or they were raised to believe they don't have any good in them. Even serial killers have families and some are said to be amazing parents and partners. It's confusing but still factual.

@@OnlyLoveIsWelcome no, there are good people and there are bad people It doesn't go back and forth, you are dead wrong. Omg what an adrenaline rush! Every parent's absolute worst nightmare ever! Statistically rarely found and if found, more often it's too late... 😭 my Millennials are 26 & 31 but now I worry about my almost 1-year-old beautiful grandson, the worry never stops. Thank you for this! I watch both for educational purposes to learn about potential scenarios to pass on to my daughter but since I was very young, true crime books were my passion, these days I watch mostly. What a brave and resilient family! Although not many people would fare as well facing desperate kidnappers so a caveat is definitely in order, such as "don't try this at home or anywhere else for that matter!" Much more engrossing than the sometimes-bland, watered-down depictions on tv movies. Thanks again! Subscribed gladly! :)

This movie isn't my kind of movie and I'm not sure why I watched it but it kept me on the edge of my seat. It ended and I'm glad it did. It goes to show you how things can go from bad to worse when people take the law into their own hands. It was a little bit different from what I expected it to be. The ending was the best part when Gus and his family all hugged. It could have been better or worse either way. Interestingly enough I was just glad it ended. People are so hardened to outsiders and strangers now days. I guess its best to say following your gut instincts about how someone makes you feel when you first get to know them is a good thing to do. I know any time I have ever ignored my gut instincts, I regret it almost immediately. Trust your instincts because God gives them to us for a reason and I know it's not so we can ignore them. It's sad how things damage people and relationships. We just have to hope there was enough love and support from the entire family to grow past these unfortunate thing's and live to be survivor's.

This movie was great!!!! One question tho, why is it that they always seem to solve the case and kill the suspect before the cops get there? I must admit that what they did to the suspect was wrong but me being a mother myself I can honestly say that there is no limit to what I would do to save my children's lives. A mother's love is unconditional and unpredictable and I can only pray to God that I never have to endure something like that and I feel sorry for anyone who has ever had to go through such a horrific thing. When it comes to children, it's up to us as parents to be aware of the people our kids come in contact with and to always leave a line of communication open because there are wierdos in this world who get much satisfaction from seeing others suffer. I can't say that I blame the mother daughter duo as many are calling them because I know me and I will stop at nothing to protect mine. It is also a lesson to all that mental health is a very serious issue and people really need to get educated about it. I don't care how up in my kids business they might think I am, I am a very involved parent in their lives and they might not understand now but they know I want nothing but the best for them and that's the most important thing. Awesome movie 👍

I'd kill the bastards before the cops arrested him and then the prosecutor gives the perpetrator a plea bargain. He'd have served two years then be released to seek vengeance on this family. Killing these types of psychos saves many lives. Violent psychos should all receive life plus 50 years without the possibility of parole. There should be special prisons for Violent offenders only. Let them torture and kill each other.

Hurting or killing someone BEFORE knowing if the victim is guilty is WRONG. I have'nt finished the mivie yet but, I would say the mother and daughter are just as psychotic and dangerous as the actual guilty person. I love my children and would do ANYTHING to protect them however, I would not give in to psychotic behavior til I had more proof that the person I went psycho on was in all likelyhood guilty. In real life, I would HOPE this mother and daughter does time in prison. Many innocent people have been attacked and murdered in real life because they were assumed guilty, only to be found innocent. If one harms or murders out of love, then they also need to be legally punished. NOONE has the right to harm or murder another based on assumptions. Haters need not reply.

Smh leaving it up to police most of the time never works out, talking about "wait by the phone" meanwhile your child is inside the house, serious cases like this happen all over the world and the most they tell you is "wait 24 hours" God knows what could of happened by then that's why you need to take matters into your own hands, i respect the mom in this movie, very well played.

In recent movies of all types these days, fathers are almost always played in a bad light and are belittled. This is a product of the leftist media to separate fathers from the home and downplay their roll in their children's lives. ... You are falling for their lies. Facts show that most criminals are from broken homes and mostly due to the actions of the mothers.

A mother, ANY rational, loving mother who loves her child almost more than life itself, will do ANYTHING for her child and ANYTHING to protect and save her child from whatever danger that is happening or around, even if it means killing or almost killing another.Even if it means having to commit a crime in the name of saving her child. If you read the title of this movie, A Mothers Instinct, she knew, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that this Seth Duran took her son. She knew it and she told the police and so many people and she was not being taken seriously or believed. And that detective was just crooked! It just seemed for so long that this family didn't have a chance in hell of getting their precious Guss back. Until....mamas instincts really took over and she stepped up to the plate when nobody else would and took the bull by the horns. A mother's love and instinct are the most powerful forces on Earth and a living, rational mother would move heaven and Earth for her child if it meant that. That's pretty much what this mother did ..and she got to find her son and bring him to safety. Had she not have done all that she had done, she likely would not have found her son.

While I agree a mother would and should do anything for her kids she’s just lucky it turned out ok. By kidnapping Seth she risked her sons life. For all she knew even if she knew he took Gus his life could depend on Seth feeding, watering or getting him air wherever he was. If she was wrong she risked jail time and traumatising her daughter and husband even more by not on,y losing their son/brother but mother to jail

Spoken from experience, no doubt? I've ALWAYS kept one eye on that crazy old biddy with no friends who has no friends but has multiple cats. BRRRRR.... it gives me the creeps looking at you.

@@steveduncan007 YOU are the creepy freako everyone watches out for. You look like refried vomit, Brian, but you smell as though you died weeks ago.

The statistics do show a mother will fight way harder but that's not always the case there's a book out there about government studies called behold a Pale Horse by William Cooper if you can still get it it's a worthwhile read I don't believe you'll see much on him on KZbin he was a naval intelligence officer turn whistleblower and radio show host killed on his front porch
