I was very disappointed with my first attempt of a CB case restoration, so I decided to try again. The results could not have come out any better!

Nice job. I resently restored my Turner +2 microphone and repainted it with Rustolium hammertone paint. The Turner from the factory has a light hammertone finish, and trying to find the same color as Turner used wasn't easy. For whatever reason, Rustolium is dropping their hammered finish paints. The color that closely resembled was discontinued by Rustolium and cant be found anywhere, I literally spent nearly 3 months trying to find a can of it, the Turner is a funky light blue/ light green if you look at those old Turner mics, its really hard to figure out the color shade, in the sun its sorta blue, but in the house its kinda green. Anyways after a half dozen emails nation wide to different companies, i.e. Lowes, Home depot, Ace, McMaster Carr and the Rustolium corp themselves, i had no luck with the paint. I then went ebaying searching for a couple weeks and finally found 1 can of Rustolium that was hammertone green/ light blue/ whatever it is color and it cost me $35 dollars for the can NOTincluding shipping. So, with that being said, the Hammertone paint from Rustolium is like liquid gold, its super easy to hide surface blemishes and covers them well. Regardless of the color and finish you picked, your Realistic turned out nice. Its nice to see someone taking pride in retro CB's and Ham gear and keeping the hobby alive. Thank you for sharing! Hopefully sometime I'll be able to have a QSO with you in the future! If your interested in old vacuum tube CB's like old Brownings, General Radio, Teaberries annd any CB made from 54 to 78ish, come joing us "Old tube radio network" (OTR) every Saturday evening at around 8pm California time here on KZbin, we have alot of fun and you can see and hear these old gems in action as collectors show and tell their tube radios. 73's from UDX 4570 Palm Springs,Ca (Eric)

Hi Eric, after reading your story, I'll might have to give the Hammertone paint a try. I'm glad you were able to track down a can! I just bought another old radio on an auction site and should have it in a few days. I might want to give the case a new finish. I don't have any tube radios, but I'd love to get my hand on an old ham tube radio if the opportunity arises. I'll have to check out the "Old tube radio network" on KZbin, thanks for the invite. 73s from (Joe) 595 Lake Tahoe Nevada.

@@RidgeHikerAdventuresPleasure to informally meet you Joe. Yes please, if you have a few moments tonight, drop by on the OTR network, itll be great to have you. Usually the first half hour or so the net controller does SWL (shortwave listener checkins) then afterwards Dennis, the net controller will start showing and talking with the collectors of the radios, its fun. You know, that hammertone paing really makes a bad surface look new, that paint is fantastic in my opinion. If you ever noticed old machinery like vices, mills, lathes and things like that, hammertone was a really big hit back in the day, especially around the '40's threw the 70's youll see everything was in a hammertone finish of some sort. Cant wait to see your new radio project, sounds fantastic and are looking forward to seeing it. Take care Joe and 73's for now👋🤠⚡️🎙
