@@andsonjones1744 Those two aren't mutually exclusive... Fatuma is both, understanding and socially intelligent. You can also be understanding and have empathy without knowing how to convey it. As an example, she recognized someone might not use cis pronouns (0:42), this is already a clear indicator of social intelligence. She is understanding and shows empathy here. She might've continued like this: "What gender are you?" or "What are your pronouns?". While that is understanding, those questions can come off as rude or as confrontational, so, thanks to her high social intelligence, she knew to introduce her pronouns so the other person now had a safer space to introduce their pronouns if they wanted to. Hope this made sense :)

Hi there ! Can you please tell me what moved you away from the SDA church ?
@LiamsLPs3 жыл бұрын
@@extinct0111 thanks for asking respectfully! It's unfortunately a longer and more personal story than I'm comfortable sharing fully. To truncate, I was a former theology student, and whenever I asked questions the response I received was "don't ask questions." It became too difficult to align my personal spirituality to their specifications, so I ultimately decided it would be unfair to both of us if I continued to represent them
@RoxanneMarius3 жыл бұрын
I didn't get the same visual but this may be because while I grew up in a SDA household, I knew by the age of 14 that it wasn't for me. My mother was certainly very old school and strict and I felt restricted knowledge wise and reluctant to let someone else make all my decisions for me.

@@micahhumdinger7473 That kind of mentality is so fucked up and old school. People struggle with how they identify and saying "if you look like a girl I'm going to refer to a girl" is very toxic. Grow up and respect peoples pronouns.
@trees____3833 жыл бұрын
@@micahhumdinger7473 problem with that is that that mindset hurts cis people too. there’s so many cis women who can simply cut their hair and wear baggy clothes and then suddenly “they look like a boy”. or cis men who put on a dress and makeup and they “look like a girl”. it’s way easier to just ask/introduce yourself with your pronouns the same way you tell them your name. looks don’t tell you anything besides their choice in style. i’ve personally been told i look like a boy multiple times but i was afab.

@@Noa...... Alright. This is by no means an argument; just to give you a bit of insight as to why Fatuma is taken aback upon learning what Jay's religion is: Due to a lifelong indoctrination, part of which is centred on Lucifer from an unpleasant point of view, Fatuma's reaction is simply instinct. Fatuma is in the right by asking the questions that she asked, because where she comes from, people of indigenous traditional beliefs still sacrifice livestock in acts of worship. Even Islam is, in a sense, not excluded from this. PS: Before anyone on the internet tries to bite my head off, I relate to Fatuma more than I'd like to share myself.
