The gay privilege question is so interesting, because I feel like it’s different societally vs socially. Societally and historically it’s easier to be a queer woman because we aren’t paid as much attention and thus avoid some of the harsher persecution gay men have faced, meanwhile societally being ignored is actually the issue queer women face because we’re invalidated and given less space in society (an example being that there’s literally one lesbian bar in all of LA that just opened last week, meanwhile there are dozens of gay bars in WeHo)

They can’t even go to the bathroom without someone telling them to get out or even calling the cops on them. I think it really depends. Like I know that masculine gay men might not be hated in the same context as feminine gay men when they are out and about just like fem lesbians and mascs

Like gay men are more validated than gay women are, but also historically speaking when things like diseases enter our community, gay men and trans women are way more affected. Some men even feel threatened that women can enjoy sex without them involved. I would say on the other hand, when society lashes out at the community, gay men face more of that backlash. People who are against the community see gay men as a bigger “threat” so gay men are put under a microscope. The current societal backlash is targeting Trans people, particularly trans women, and gay men far more than it’s targeting lesbians.

I love Taryn but does she even consider herself to be a lesbian? She’s always said she’s attracted to men as well, even in this video. It’s kind of weird that she’s in this video.
@Rainbow_Warrior_Princess

Yes, she says herself that she doesn't identify as a lesbian and that she is still sexually attracted to men and wishes to have had sex with them, so as a bisexual she should not have been in this video of homosexual girls / women, although I like her.

One thing with gay men vs lesbians I do think women being more masculine is a lot more socially acceptable than men being more feminine. Obviously not all gay men are feminine and not all lesbians are masculine I’m just saying that is something that I’ve seen gay men be more oppressed and looked down for. That aside I agree with their other points. Points are valid but I also want to say we shouldn’t be having privilege Olympics in the community we should just try to support everyone where society won’t.

@@djojo6857 its okay not to like penises, i don't either (i'm bi tho), however it's only genitalis, it's not important for everyone, especially since they really change on HRT and some people get surgeries to further change them, and also, outer genitalia can really vary, through the whole quigley's scale. If you dont like penises that's okay, but there are lesbians that either dont mind them, are asexual, or have no genital preference, and they are also valid lesbians.

i totally agree with the damaged relationship one. like i came out 4 years ago when i was 19 and i never really told anyone but i knew since i was like 12. like i told 2 or 3 people that was it. but my family likes to make gay jokes and not in the fun way so i hate talking about relationships and stuff cuz i feel awkward that they don’t accept me fully.

People trying to be liberal and understanding. I frown upon it heavily (as a lesbian.) Idk why this trans woman is included because she isn't a cis woman and doesnt feel the exact same as us lesbians do. Didnt share the lesbian experience etc, they should put her in a transgender video instead

It was beautiful seeing most of these girlies talking about growing up with a queer friend group. I grew up (and still am) basically only surrounded by straight people and that’s hard. Being the only lesbian woman in a all group is complicated because it’s genuinely complicated to relate to straight people because your all life is a POLITICAL ACT and most of us have to literally learn to love and be okay with ourselves. This video was amazing, yes for wlw representation. LET’S GO LESBIANS, LET’S GO.
