I'm starting on the "Flag Making" project and saw this jig - and I just realized the same jig idea would be great for my cutting boards and butcher block builds.... so, after 6 years of building hundreds of boards/blocks I've learned a real time/work saver. Thank you so much for sharing.

I just came across this video. Thank u for the idea. I modified your jig a little bit. Your 3 pressure arms are affixed to your plywood with screws but I chose to have mine free floating bcs I make various size flags and I can slide them to pressure any area needed. Another mod I did was use 1/4-20 6” bolts with 1/4-20 knobs so I can hand tighten everything with no tools required. Thanks again👊🏼

This a great idea for your flags. Just like to say also that I have been watching a number of your videos, more specifically on CNC projects. You are a very good instructor, very clear in your plans and directions. They are all very helpful to me and have helped me to think of ideas of my own as well as how to anticipate issues good and bad, maybe even the ugly possibilties. Anyways thank you so very much for your time, efforts and of coarse the patience that you have as it does take time to do the editing etc. so thank you. Keep having fun and if you don't mind...I'm coming along for the ride. Andrew

Hi. Got another question. What are the measurement points where you placed the braces? Looks like dead center and the other two are 1/2 way. So 1/3, 1/3, 1/3? Does it matter which corner you use? Since I use 13 even strips I figured I'd place mine at the top right to make sure the union stays straight. Thanks again, absolutely love your videos.
@PawPawsWorkShop

Kurt C .. I can’t measure right now but 1/3 will work. Determine where you want the backer boards and place the braces in between

I’m confused, your answer to the length of the bolts, one says 6 inches and one says 5 inches, Great video, but I wish there was more detail on the fasteners used to screw the bolts in. 3/8 inch bolts, but what size hole do you need to drill to get the fastener in?
@PawPawsWorkShop
@PawPawsWorkShop 4 жыл бұрын
The actual size of the bolt is 5 inches. You can use any size bolts, 1/4", 5/16", or 3/8". Whatever size that you have in your shop. Make the hole just large enough to fix the bolt.

Great design, but perhaps something like melamine instead of plywood would keep glue squeeze-out from being a problem? Just a thought, but I will probably duplicate the design! Great work!
@PawPawsWorkShop
@PawPawsWorkShop 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you. That's an excellent idea. One important factor is that I do not want glue on the face of the flag. That's why no melamine. The wood braces that keep the flag flat has packing tape on them to prevent the glue from sticking.

Nate wahl . Use epoxy to glue them in. Also, you can put three little screws to hold the t nuts. The little screws need to be right at the edge of the t-nut. The head of the screws catch the edge of the t-nut.

My main issues is getting the right end to be even all the way down even though I use a stop block with my miter saw, any thoughts? Thanks.
@PawPawsWorkShop
@PawPawsWorkShop 4 жыл бұрын
Two possible causes. If saw dust gets into the stop block and prevent the boards from getting to the actual stop block will make the boards shorter. Make sure that you completely clear all saw dust from the area around the stop block. The second cause could be that the blade on the saw has a wobble. Not very likely but it is possible.
