We already do..... Logging companies are required to pay a tax that goes towards reforestation every time they get permission to log an area. Also,in the US logging companies are responsible for planting 80% of all new trees every year. In fact,there are more trees in the US now than there were 100 years ago. And it's all thanks to logging companies that have taken a stand. Logging companies rely on trees to stay in business... Most of them plant at least 3 trees for everyone they cut, in a clear-cut op. In selective logging ops,removing those old trees actually greatly helps the ecosystem as a whole. It allows other smaller trees to grow suddenly and quickly because they're no longer being starved for moisture and sunlight.

Tjaden McCloud Just one question. Why do you believe everything the mainstream media presents you? It's out of the question that our environment is essential for us, however the climate change isn't fueled by humanity. We just catalyze this process that would happen anyways. There have always been warmer and colder periods and that is a fact that nobody can deny, since it's scientifically proved. Most people on earth won't even be affected by the climate change, but we should help the ones that are, by finding solutions for them, instead of fighting something that is unstoppable. We shouldn't give up more and more of our freedom for an issue, invented by the global force elites. There is no catastrophe. And the only things that will crash and burn if we don't stand up against them is our society, economy and culture.

I have got a better idea, how about the likes of Greta and the rest of the ignorant useful idiots start campaigning for non pollutant free energy, such as cars running on tap water (hydrogen), cars running on compressed air, Zero Point energy and Nikola Tesla technology. That would mean no carbon tax. Have you even ever heard of non pollutant free energy? If so, why didn't you suggest it? As for planting trees, I was doing that 40 years ago. We have been brainwashed about the climate change scare for 40 years or more. It was only when they introduced the carbon tax, that I woke up to the scam. BTW Greta is a useful idiot. If she wasn't she would be talking about non pollutant free energy, but no she is campaigning for a carbon tax. She is also 16 years old, but get portrayed as a 11 year old.

A central message from her is that nature-based solutions, such as preserving forests, protecting biodiversity, and promoting sustainable practices, are crucial to tackling climate change. She calls for immediate action, highlighting that time is running out to prevent the worst impacts of climate change, and urges world leaders, companies, and individuals alike to prioritize and act in favor of nature, as it is integral to human survival and well-being.

While I was watching the video clip, it was like a flashback of all the mistakes I made in our nature. I, I am not a perfect person, I also make mistakes sometimes. I managed to throw garbage everywhere, and managed to throw it into the river. But the simply throwing away has a great impact on our nature, the reason for its destruction. To my fellow youths, we must empower our fellows to be responsible in our own waste, and to manage it carefully. It is important to throw the garbage in the right container to help we are in reducing the wastes around us. It is a common practice, it is also important that we plant trees, especially when we cut them down, let us replace them with two or more plants to be planted. Our future is in our hands. If now we are neglecting the our circumstances, we may have a limit to live in the world, but if we take care of, appreciate and love our nature created by God, we will live healthy, well and long. We must do PROTECT, RESTORE AND FUND.

Most land ecosystems support trees, even the desert can be turned into a green forest full of water and life forms. Trees truly are the bringers of life on this planet.
@sambullen41545 жыл бұрын
@Tyrel Goldberg No. 7saany is correct. Certain substrates simply can't support trees, for example: grasslands in Victoria, Australia don't have trees growing there because the soils are too clay heavy and the Eucalypts that dominant the canopy in surrounding areas cannot tolerate the water-logging that such soil is susceptible to. It's also important to realise that there are many types of ecosystems that aren't dominated by trees and provide their own unique values in nature. Even deserts provide a major life-giving substance in the form of nutrients blown into the ocean to support diatoms and many other microorganisms that are vital for life on Earth.

I've always been a tree lover and planted a small forest on part of my two acres in NY back in the 90's. I planted mainly Austrian Pines, because they are fast growing. At the time, it wasn't about Climate change. I just always seen their importance and their use in other things like buffering noise, privacy, etc. By the time I sold my home, my trees were over twelve feet tall and they were planted as seedlings. Today, it is a little forest in the back of the property I once owned. I remember saying that if I was able to buy that little house and property, I would plant trees and I did. It won't be that easy to just stop using fossil fuels because that's the main energy that we are using. If we stop using fossil fuels within the short run, a tremendous amount of industries will shut down and that will definitely put a major pause both in many country's developments and economy. Before we stop using fossil fuels, we need to invest in the research and development of renewable energies that are not damaging the Earth while doing the 3 points mentioned in the video. The question to that is : "Who are willing to invest?"

@@iCookieMad that's true but we need to do it way more because it's still not efficient enough to be used on a large scale. If it's as unefficient as it is today, no industries would want to use it and industries are the ones giving off the most pollution. If we don't invest more, we are just demanding more trees to carry our burden. It has to work hand in hand to achieve the goal ASAP. I highly doubt that industries will want to sacrifice their profit for something that won't profit them in the short run. Atleast most industries won't do it. The way that we can make everyone contribute to the research and development is by using tax. HICs needs to be the one who highly invest because MICs may not be able to afford it, moreover LICs, especially those countries who used to be colonized and left with their ex - colonizers' debt. Moreover, industries that are in the MICs and LICs mostly belongs to HICs (because of the greener law and such so they move it to countries whose primary needs aren't as fulfilled as HICs yet). So, it's the HICs' responsibility to invest (through tax). That's my opinion.

Just imagine, if the Romans had nuclear Powerstations, we'd still have their dumps to contend with... It's a quick fix with unforeseeable consequences! Put more effort into fusion and hydrogen.

Does plants actually capture carbon efficiently ? I thought trees are used cause they store carbon long term but if household plants die after a few years dont they release the carbon dioxide into the air ?

Greta Thunberg's #NatureNow message and the film on plastic pollution in Southeast Asia have both underscored the urgent need for environmental action. The film's powerful portrayal of plastic pollution's impact on marine life and communities, combined with Greta's emphasis on protecting forests, has made me realize the gravity of the situation. I'm inspired to take responsibility for my actions and support efforts to protect our environment.

It is so strange to see her calm... :)
@alfredroberthogan4 жыл бұрын
Greta Thunberg has actually been calm in every single public speech she has made, aside from her four-minute "How Dare You!" speech at the UN in NYC on Monday 23 September 2019, in which she most understandably castigated the global indifference and inaction on the No. 1 climate emergency. She rarely gets angry even in private, as she has noted.

I"m a recent follower of your great work Greta. I particularly love how you talk to politicians. We should all emulate that. I have talked to many students about your work and have recommended your videos. But I have to say that voting for politicians that say that they support a pro environment agenda is simply not true. Black and white; remember? They are either all bought or in transition towards being bought. Capitalism produces that. You have said in the past that non-competition is the way to go. I know you are young and surely have not been yet exposed to these facts but the people are the only ones that have the interest and heart to do what we want. Don't listen to those whispering in your ear that these particular politicians are different. In capitalism they are all the same. Anti-us. Continue with your non polluted ways.

True, but having someone from the younger generation *publicly* speak truth to power is still needed, it's easy to forget how important it is to rock the boat in an age of complacency.
@locochavo45605 жыл бұрын
TimeKeeper25 Fair enough. However, l think l and many other see the “HOW DARE YOU” speech as not telling the hard truth but rather a form of complacency like treating large corporations as individuals rather than the network of people

If you search the "500 most polluted cities in the world" (wiki), not one of those cities is in the US, Canada, the UK, or western Europe (except Poland). The countries that are the biggest offenders are China, India, Iran, Russia...so stop lecturing us on how horrible we are. We're doing our part. Is there room for improvement? Yes, but stop blaming the west.
