I watched it last night. The opening concert scene had me giggling so much - I have a 6-year-old, so I’ve seen a lot of kid concerts, it was very funny. I thought it was very wholesome and sweet. I like that it wasn’t a traditional Christmas story, and everyone had their own story and moment to shine. The teacher’s backstory was so sad. The voice work was very good, I love hearing all these actors I know in an animated movie, and even the kids were great. But the stand out was the animation, it was wonderful, really smooth and beautiful to look at. While I don’t think it’s a new favourite of mine (‘Klaus’ is probably my most recent classic), I am happy it exists, and that we have a new animated studio in the UK that can make such a sweet film! Merry Christmas all!

The film was actually based on a REAL LIFE English town called Southwold that I go to all the time and it was so nice to see little things like the lighthouse that I can point to and be like "I'VE SEEN THAT!" (And yeah the lighthouse actually does exist)

Oh yea I was watching it screaming going OMG THIS IS SO REAL SO REAL SO REAL (they got the coastal Suffolk vibe completely right honestly - although the dots on the map being in Harwich - Essex - occasionally made me laugh as did the supposed bridge to Sheringham - north Norfolk - but like obviously fictional). I have so many thoughts on how accurate this was to the area lol. Also as someone who's small suffolk primary school managed to fit aliens into the nativity in year 3 to "spice it up" - from a very (unofficially) christian school - that nativity scene was SO real and made my whole family laugh constantly, but im not suprised to see that people didn't get it or found it offensive.

It blaspemes Jesus Christ in the very first 7 minutes of the movie. I watch movies with my siblings to teach them moral lessons, and I'm lunged at with a blasphemous play after only 5 minutes. This movie is blasphemous to God and needs to be removed. This film was actually made by two studios. Locksmith is the producer and owner of the film, but DNEG Animation was also highly involved. They did all the animation work and world-building based on the art Locksmith created. They also worked on Ron's Gone Wrong, Nimona, and the Garfield movie. This is definitely a new classic for me and I'll be keeping an eye out for other films by these studios

However, I get why people who haven't witnessed the mess that is tiny countryside british primary schools trying to be original with school plays held together with the funding of sellotape and cardboard might simply see it as offensive

I've watched the movie recently. I didn't like it, it felt disjointed and diluted trying to cover many stories. If you removed a couple of side stories and focused on the boy, his mom, the teacher and the twins you'd get a better movie (the entire barn storyline was pointless). But I'll admit this looks good, and moves well. There's heart in the movie and I see people here appreciate that, and that's good. Also it's a better movie than Spellbound any day.

I saw Bacon Guy’s review of this film and I was shocked to see how negative his and his comment section’s reception was to this movie. Simon Otto, for a directorial debut, did an absolutely brilliant job with the shots in this film. I have a more in-depth review on Bacon Guy’s comment section, but overall, I loved the film’s themes, music, art style, voice performances, and though there were some issues(how stupid some people act, jokes that don’t quite land, and an unbearable romance subplot with at least a good ending), this film was an absolute banger. Definitely watching it next Christmas. 9/10.

This was a great movie, one of my favorite animated movies of this year (besides Wild Robot and Inside Out 2). I will be making a Christmas staple along side Klaus and Arthur Christmas.

gonna be real, i didn't like the film the plot was decent, but the side plot of the "barn kids" who wanted to break tradition... just felt like a few kids being little brats who wanted to nothing but wreck the house and eat junk food (the chocolate sauce and marshmallows on thee pizza made me fucking gag) which in my opinion is just nasty, they were not enjoyable protags in the slightest the rest of the plots was a sweet if slightly played out plot, the parents in the van was enjoyable, arguably the most enjoyable section of the movie since the characters aren't written to be brats, or socially awkward children the opening scene made me cringe, like I'm extremely woke ... and i mean like extra woke, but the whole shunting climate change and modern politics in to thee nativity play felt wrong, and then they went the cringe route where the play got ruined too, which just added onto the cringe factor the visuals were fantastic though, however some of the character designs felt a smidge off and i wasn't very much paying attention to the music, though the voices were brilliant over all the film was a visual treat to watch, and i loved the cut away scenes, none of the voices were horrible and the story was serviceable, the barn kid side plot ultimately soils the experience for me

I watched this movie literally earlier today and I thought it was kinda meh. I almost fell asleep on the couch watching it. Also, this is a quite small thing, but it is quite infuriating how the parents stay on the VW T1 that is ON ICE THAT COULD CRACK AT ANY MOMENT AND THE VAN COULD SINK INTO THE ICY WATER, DROWNING THEM ALL INSIDE IT, instead of just LITERALLY CRAWLING ONTO THE SOLID GROUND LITERALLY 10 METERS AWAY! But for a second movie, it´s solid. Animation, character design and everything else other than the writing was great. I wasn´t really attached at all to the characters.

I don’t think their Nativity scene is so bad, “the three wise women” part is kinda eehhh but I don’t think it’s anything to really gripe about; if people were to perform it in front of Christ Himself I feel like it would make Him smile😂 Tho there’s sure to be a few people somewhere out there who’d blow the scene way out of proportion 😭😭

I didn't realize so many people hated it. I thought it was cute. Seems like something kids would really put on. And it foreshadowed Trapper being a good teacher and Bernadette going rogue on Christmas
