Proprietary plug is 100% a nonstarter. I'm quite happy with my Xreal Airs, though I do hope that the vertical FOV increases so the sweet spot is less narrow and maybe open up to 'larger' displays. Maybe Apple entering the space will spark up some more ambitious AR glasses in the near future?

I completely agree. I have a set of (Nreal) Xreal Airs with the Xreal beam, and I love them. I also believe some competition is healthy.

Hi ya, any idea what the max IPD setting is in Nreal glasses? I’m a hammer head, 73.5 IPD over here. VR has been a nightmare, I’m hoping there’s something in the AR space that might do it for me. I really am only looking for a larger display for my hand held content. Anyhow, thanks for your time.

I wonder why no one has tried to license Shokz' bone conduction tech with one of these AR glasses displays? That seems like such an obvious pairing to me, but I can't wear both at once very easily.

Okay, something like that, with a handheld PC, running an executable that simulates a 3D HUD that is populated by your cloud based calendar, with an AI enhanced assistant that can behave more like a human assistant in that it can interrupt you to remind you when you need to leave to get to meetings and keep track of life more naturally with vocal commands is the endgame for AR that makes life better.

The only upside to the proprietary plug is that you know it's the right one for the job. You don't have to test and/or label each of your cables that terminate in a USB-C connector to see which ones have the right pins connected to get DP-Alt to work. As for the device itself, it's a good first effort, and my experience with TCLs other products makes me hopeful that their next generation will improve, should they deem making a next gen a good idea.

Hey, as a contacts wearer, I love my Xreal airs but it limits my ability to use them in bed or other times when I have my contacts out. I just realized you also have glasses, and was wondering if you had any tips on using HMD glasses when you have a pair of real life glasses? Im nearsighted so without contacts the image is always blurry for me...

Great depth review! I've just got interested in getting my first AR glasses. Glad to hear some details about pixel and using them has a desktop vs gaming. My only worry that I have found much info yet RX guys. The worry is that my RX is -11.50 soooo yeah. Time to got thru your channel ot learn more!

Hey Jeff, how well would over-the-ear headphones work with the Xreal Air glasses? My goto earphones when flying(or pretty much any other time) are the Sony WH1000-XM4s; I've never been able to tolerate in-ear earphones for extended periods of time.

The temples on the XREAL air are ~3.8mm thick where they touch your ear. I typically don't wear over the head cans, but it should totally be doable. Less so with the TCLs.

My Xreal glasses plug into anything with a display usb c out. GPD PC, Steam deck, phones, Rokid station, Apple Mac, I am sure I will find more.

The temples are so thick i wish they would attempt a fully standalone pair that has built in batteries and a focus on screen mirroring so they dont have to put too much components inside

I feel like I can see the tiny Jeff inside the glasses.. just waiting for his chance to either escape and take back his life, or at the very least sweet Oblivion..

I'm not gonna buy these glasses (might get the XReal Air 2) but I'm interested in the beer. I'm extremely selective about IPAs, but lots of citrus/tropical/pine without being too harsh on acidity sounds great.

dang, that cable is proprietary, i thought at first it looked like the dozzen or so different 'magsafe' adapters that let you plug in a little nearly flush dongle into a laptop or phone, and get full 10g speeds and up to 100w power delivery(on the larger ones, the smaller ones are 45-60w)

Funny enough the Xreal airs screen it too high and I have to constantly look up instead of looking straight to see the entire screen. It tires my eyes out. My friends Virtues looks alot better, but they also have that proprietary USB-C cable

I have a tall mid western face. I have not been able to use Rokid or Xreal because I just can't get the image to fit in my field of view without it being fuzzy on the edges.

AR is great but what I could really use is a pair of glasses that can be adjusted via software to my prescription and ok we can throw in some AR as well 😏. FYI rogue makes a pretty solid double chocolate stout .
