@MihZiv9 ай бұрын
@marcuskissinger3842 it isn't? If there are two balls, there is only one collision possible. If there are two, the probability of a collision triples, because there are triple the possible collisions. For any number of balls n, the number of possible collisions is n*(n-1)/2, and the frequency of collisions, meaning change of balls is just k*n*(n-1)/2, not balls*c

At first I also assumed exponential growth, but I wasn't quite sure. I then tried to model the whole thing using a function. I made the simplified assumption that the average expected time t until the next collision is antiproportional to the number of possible collisions, i.e. t = k*1/ (n choose 2), where k is some proportionality factor that I don't know. If I create a table with the number of balls on one side and the average expected time until the number is reached on the other side, I get a bijective assignment that I can reverse. For the elapsed time, I can use the above assumption to take the sum of the time intervals. This is easily simplified to x = 2k*(N-2)/(N-1), where N is the current number of balls and x is the elspsed time. Here you can already see that x converges to 2k for N towards infinity. If I transform this to N, I get N(x)=(x-4k)/(x-2k), i.e. no exponential function, provided that my first assumption with the number of collisions is correct.
