I went with the Stratotimer from Jack Mason for a diver GMT with the Miyota 9075. Cheaper at $1k, but there are others that are well under $1k using the same movement. This is a nice watch overall, just a bit expensive for what others are offering.

Can I ask on the lume dial strap is there enough adjustment notches for a six inch wrist?
@Sorfor_Ай бұрын
@@keefw361hey there! You didn’t asked me, but it comes with 9 holes. My wrist is small, and it fits great, even tho I changed the strap for a Artem black strap, and that one is kinda big for me, grey fitted better, but black looks better IMO!

On the 2nd hand market you can get this watch, depending what variant, for half the price or if you lucky even lower. I saw one just recently on ebay for under £500. So, at the moment, they don't seem to hold their value very much.

So right that the 9075 "true" is revolutionary considering the Tudor GMT at three times the price was the game changer in GMT watches not long ago. Microbrands have embraced the movement and some very good watches are emerging, I didn't like the Wilton, but this one looks good. Strap notwithstanding I like the full lume variant.

I am totally smitten with the Pepsi variant. I have been on the lookout for a retro-inspired GMT that has its own bold aesthetic rather than another GMT Master homage. That said, the price tag is a bit hard to swallow. Thankfully a few ADs have these on sale for the upper $800s this weekend which is much more reasonable.

The Jack Mason Stratotimer is superior in every way: 40mm diameter, 13mm thick, on-the-fly microadjust bracelet (the president bracelet variant is gorgeous), proper sized hands (I hate short hands) and also cost less. The most important feature are the dimensions: there's just nothing greater than having a watch that fits so perfectly to your wrist and lug-to-lug/diameter/thickness are now the top of my list when it comes to watch selection.

Another great video about Bulova, but the downside is that I only need more watches from Bulova. I have the Wilton GMT in blue and black, the Lunar Pilot in white/blue and black, I have a Marine Star 262kHz with grey dial 96B434, and Precionist 98B315, and I want an Oceanographer. Since my sweet spot is 42-43mm, but I cannot decide if the cheaper 44mm 96B322 is the one form me, or if the 41mm GMT 98B415 is attractive enough, that it's worth almost twice as much?

But, I'm not a know-user of movements and specific specs about watches to know if it is a really good watch or at the same price range is there another brand (like Seiko) with better watch. I have the regular, recent reissue of the Devil Diver with a black/red bezel that my wife gifted me two years ago. I shipped it off to the US Citizen repair facility that services all Citizen brands to have the bezel replaced as it started to rotate in both directions. Unfortunately, they did not carry a replacement bezel as it was considered a discontinued item and instead offered to give me a deal on a new watch which I passed on. Note this watch is only a couple of years old and I was willing to pay for any repairs. So buyer beware, Bulova AKA Citizen may not be the best option if you plan on keeping your watch for a long period of time.

I own a Wilton, Mil Ships and owned a devil diver earlier this year. Classic orange, I sold it after only 3-4 months. The entire base of the cushion case is polished and the "stubby hands" are small and out of proportion to the case size. I guess because of the cushion case the whole dial seemed tiny. The white one looks like it could mute the glossy esthetic of the case, but they added an inner 24 hour chapter ring making the dial even more crowded. The rootbeer case if polished would shout BLING thats fine if your into that sort of thing. The blue one is back to shiny, shiny finger print and scratch magnet, the traditional crowed dial and stubby hands with an added GMT hand. Love the concept of the devil diver and will be looking forward to a more traditional design in the future. As far as price, yeah its expensive now but give it time you can get Bulova watches 30-50% off MSRP after the launch is over in most cases. Sorry to mention that Teddy lol.

There is something not right quality wise (fit and finish) about the Bulova range, IMHO. I can't put my finger on it exactly. It's very subtle. Something feels cheap about Bulova watches, IMHO. I love that Bulova is trying to offer watches at an affordable price point. If you love Bulova then go for it. I owned a Chronograph C and Lunar Pilot (44mm iteration with the blue Snoopy like dial) and they both felt cheap and like a toy. They weren't satisfying to wear like a similarly priced Seiko or even Citizen (although they own Bulova). That's just my experience. I Invite you to entertain your own conclusions. Maybe it's just my OCD kicking in. Thanks for the awesome video. This is a $350 watch the most on a good day.

I own two Bulovas; a Marine Star and the 43mm Lunar Pilot. From my experience, aside from the MSRP, (which of course I'll never pay), the main problem with is how prone to scratches these watches are. It looks like they are not using 316L steel or a proper hardening procedure for the extremely polished finish. Another issue is their bracelets, which comes with push pins instead of screws. In regard to the fit, these watches tend to wear loose on my wrists, even when the bracelet has been resized to the maximum. The case size is not a problem tough. Otherwise good casual watches.
@keefw3615 ай бұрын
@@efrn007they never have enough removable links which is really annoying quality is excellent however
@efrn0075 ай бұрын
@keefw361 In my case, only the Lunar pilot's bracelet does not have enough removable links; it fits very loose, and I have to use it exclusively with the alternative leather straps. A few months ago, I got the Oceanographer GMT (rootbeer variant) and fits perfect to my 6.5-inch wrist. The bad thing is, for the price of these watches, they should be using screws instead of those cheap and hard to remove pins.

Not a Seiko fan but it looks like a Seiko Turtle copy. Not sure is Bulova is considererd a microbrand (?) But there are also admirable microbrands like Boldr and Zelos that have truly created its own unique identity, that is instantly recognizable without confusion. So far i still cannot tell what is Bulova's design language.
@tschoy9388 Жыл бұрын
Hello dear friend, as a Seiko Turtle owner, the Devil diver GMT is totally not a Turtle copy. 1. Turtle no white dial, 2. The Turtle Bezel have no white color from zero to 15 min. marking. 3. The Turtle have ceramic bezel but Bulova devil diver is sapphire bezel or aluminium Bezel. The watch outlook is different.

@@tschoy9388 I am not a Seiko fan but I started collecting Seikos 20 years back, until I got fed up with the brand since 5 years back when quality is dropping, and they are too busy doing limited editions than actual improvements. Had a few turtles too. when I said copy, I don’t mean it in the way of a Rolex replica sold in the street market. I am saying you can be copying the main design language of something, then change a few details here and there, so that people won’t say it’s a fake. A nicer way to say it is “inspired” or “homage”. Yes you can change details here and there it is endless. That’s not the point. Step back 5m and I see a turtle. And if say someone wears a skx I can spot it across the room and say it is a classic Seiko design. When you see a Mercedes, a BMW, a Honda even, you recognise the heritage and design language. You don’t need to see the badge. In this case, does it scream “wow classic bulova” or hey that looks like a turtle what brand is it now?
