Hi Tamara, I wrote to Feiyu support about using external microphones. This was the answer: Hi Juan, Thanks for your mail. Sorry, Feiyu Pocket could not work with extrernal microphone. When using gimbal separately, the gimbal collects sound through the gimbal itself; when gimbal and remote handle work together, which will collects sound through the remote handle. Thanks So, your audio solutions are not efective at all.

thank you very much for this video. I was thinking about a new cam for our travel-vlog. But therefore I would need a camera which works good in low-light-conditions. I'm not happy with the gopro 11 because even it's even a problem filming inside a campervan on a bright and sunny day. So unfortunatly Feiyu Pocket is not an option. Danke und Grüße

Tamara, great report as always! 10:14, sadly, Is a deal killer. A video camera with myriad mount possibilities needs an external mic jack.

I get the feeling that DJI may be about to launch something along the same lines - combination of the Pocket 2 and the Action 2 if you like - but almost certainly their actual camera and picture quality will be significantly better than this. Rumour has it that it will be out in April. So... Is the audio stereo? Are there batteries in the handle so that the overall running time is increased when it is physically connected to the camera module? I agree that the specs indicate that low light performance will not be its strong point, but any gimbal camera will avoid the problems that any EIS camera has with stabilisation and visual artifacts especially at night. Your night footage might actually be more usable, overall, than a recent GoPro might produce - for instance, the street lights were well rendered but any EIS camera will cause them to go weird. Good summary review with a very fair summary - thanks!

Hi Peter, yeah the handle can be charged independently of the camera, but even whilst using the handle connected to the camera I didn’t get much more than about 50 mins, but I was shooting in 4K30, so it’ll definitely vary. Thanks as always for watching! 😊

2 questions... 1. I don't suppose the batteries are replaceable? -and- 2. Were you able to find a maximum-ish distance the handle/control will operate from? Overall a nice starter product, but I think I'll hold off on considering buying because of the poor quality of low light issues and battery life. Many of us (what I've seen in other reviews of similar items) have been *waiting with baited breath* for DJI to produce a Pocket III with a larger sensor and hopefully different battery scheme. I always like your reviews and postings. Calm, pleasant and inviting to watch!🎥

Thank you. Nope the batteries aren’t replaceable. In terms of the maximum distance for connection between the handle and remote, I’ll ask FeiyuTech as it’s not in the specs.

I found this comment from Feiyu on their Kickstarter page: "Pocket 3 can be controlled with the remote handle up to a distance of 10 meters (about 32.8 feet) in an open and interference-free environment. Additionally, it can be controlled with a mobile app up to a distance of 16 meters (about 52.4 feet)." Hope that helps!

Unfortunately not. You’d have to use a mic like the DJI Wireless Mic or Rode Wireless Pro, record into the transmitter and then sync the audio in post.

Thanks for the review Tamara! Always great to see options out there, particularly with DJI not being particularly eager with the Pocket 3 it seems. I like the fact that you can take off the head and attach it to your phone with the Mount. Looks much better then when you use the Pocket 2 with your phone. Question about the audio recorder: that thing is so tiny! Would you ever recommend something like that for your home studio if space was an issue? Or is it worlds apart from the bigger zoom recorders? Thanks again! 💪🏻

The detachable feature is interesting but he video footage looks stuttered/choppy. Wish that you went into a deeper examination of the quality instead of saying it's "pretty decent" and bad in low light (ofc it is). Would love to see a direct comparison to DJI pockets. Wish the thumbnail wasn't so clickbait-y, but I guess that's less your fault and more the fact that the DJI P3 hype has been so much, while idk if anyone has ever heard of Feiyu tech's pocket 1 or 2, let alone 3.

Thank you, Tamara, for this video! So many cool ideas and concepts are implemented in this nice tiny camera. I want to like it so much, but the low and not-so-low light video quality is looking sad. Better lens, censor and battery life plus ability of external mic, and then it will be golden. But I guess not from this brand. Let's see what DJI Pocket 3 will be like.
