I heard an elephant has the ability to smell equal to a dog. So I'm sure they are very well able to communicate a lot of information just by scent alone - like stress, happiness, hormone levels, and who know what all. I think that and the sense of touch if why elephants are always touching each other with their trunks, it must be a marvelous was to communicate with each other and offer each other comfort and to just say hello, like a hand shake.

According to Adine, Jabulani visits Phabeni every day at the fence, just like he visited with Khanyisa when she was in the nursery. Nobody taught him to do that. We know that These Beautiful Majestic Gentle Giants are intelligent and they do exhibit such human characteristics, when it comes to caring for their Own. One day, God Willing, little Phabeni will stand just as tall, if not taller, than his uncle Jabulani. I am thankful for the loving Human Family at HERD that are committed to making this happen. I think Adine set out the elephant quarters perfectly. With the adults being close but safely away from the orphan gardens,at least the little ones are connected by infrasounds from the grown elephants. It means she is never alone from her own kind, yet can still have the intensive care and love from her safe humans.

Jabulani knows that he is the new baby for the herd. He remembers being rescued. Elephants have amazing memory capabilities and have shown to have remarkable emotions. The herd always embraces their new orphan with loving arms. I am sure they know that the babies are kept seperately for a long time. I am surprised the females aren't coming over wanting to adopt him. I watch a couple of dogs that are using buttons with words to communicate. Can we even imagine if this was done with the herd? It would blow our minds how smart they are.

Love that Jabu checks on Phabeni daily now...and that Phabeni is engaging with his trunk -- good boy! Hope his appetite increases. I love baby elephant naps lol. "I'm tired. Plop." I guess I'm a slow learner because I just realized what everyone is doing. Standing still, sitting down, walking very slowly, soothing voices and gentle touches. All of that makes baby feel safe, loved, and unafraid. And look at Jabu! He's steadily inspecting the new baby while being calm and non-threatening. "I'm just hanging out to munch on this bana grass. No threat here." What a great uncle he is! No wonder they introduce him first to babies. And I'm so happy to see our pink princess munching on her pellets and sweet potatoes 😊 Thank you for this!

Oh my what an overwhelming beautiful video this was. Seeing our pink princess eating her pellets. omg Khanyisa is so big and beautiful im binge watching from the beginning and so well here iam, just yesterday i was watching a cute little khanyisa and here she is becoming a beautiful young lady phabeni looks sooo good gained weight with all the love from all of you its incredible how he looks and happy jabulani loves the little ones. Also i watched something yesterday i have never seen an elephant do to say i cried oh im always in tears these videos are so precious they are for us who are in cities who adore animals against cruel evil humans, these videos are PRECIOUS PRICELESS so, i was warching little Khanyisa and Klaserie was next to her and she was going back and forward and i was unsure of what she wanted to do she smelled Khaniysa as she usually does right? but THEN i see her bending down on her legs front legs and shaking her head she went almost all way down, and THEN I hear Adine saying, "oh Klasieri wants to play with baby Khanyisa" OH GUYS sorry for my huge comment, but its blown me away i cried even more i couldnt believe it, she really wanted to play with the baby sweet sweet Klasieri, oh I love them all so much THANK YOU for all the team at HERD, thank you for saving them thank you for showing us this hopefully it reaches some hearts of the ones who do evil things to them im not sure but I hope it will and someday animals in circus or anywhere for profit it will be a thing of the past, the same for the people who BUY these tusks, i mean its madness. thank you thank you, excuse my english is bad at times

As someone who likes your videos and content I feel that I have to give an advise anyway. The sound of a video is sometimes more important than the visual picture which might be blurred or otherwise not perfect. It is so easy to avoid this horrible wind sound and disturbance. Just put a wind protection over your microphone. I will make your videos much, much nicer to watch and to listen to. One of the best videos from HERD! The Pink Princess and the new Prince Phabeni.....and Jabu, the gentle giant who's letting Phabeni react until he's comfortable. Phabeni seems very friendly towards the others when they are nearby, but he was alone long enough to be terrified of everything, poor little guy. I'm sure he loves the reeds because he could hide in them safely when needed. I'm excited to see him interact!

Oh look at that brave little one, he tried to touch Jabu, he is a little step further, he now smells Jabu, but i am certain they communicate also in the vibrating sounds we cannot hear. Look at the big shadow of Jabulani , Phabeni can sleep out of the sun, under a watchful eye of Jabulani and his big shadow, sleep wel little one, sweet dreams. And then our pink princess, my oh my she grows so big, with stil the little sweet rumbles. I love the sound. Did you see, she now eats whole sweet patato not pieces but whole ones. I will re watch khanysa's rescue as i remember finding the channel 1 month after she was found. So cant remember if she was 3 months of 4 months. My girl says male bulls are bigger than the females. Remember how badly injured Khanyisa was. It took a long time for her to heal, plus the trauma of being snared and abandoned made her survival miraculous.

Jabulani is so impressive, compared to adorable tiny Phabeni ! What a beautiful video. Jabu seems to be drawn to this little chap. Phabeni was so cute and curious of his sweet gentle and loving Uncle Jabulani ❤️🥰🐘🐘. Sweet Jabu is such a wonderful and caring elephant that I think he will be definitely watching over the little one as they hopefully see each other again. It is understandable that you have to Keep Jabu fed while he is so close to the baby to keep the baby safe even though I don’t think that sweet Jabulani would never hurt this baby. He was interested in Phabeni and so was Phabeni interested In Jabulani too. I bet Phabeni was happy to see another elephant and at first was hesitant but seemed relaxed when he realized Jabulani wasn’t gonna hurt him.❤️🥰🐘🐘. It’s a win/win for everyone and including the baby and Jabulani too. Will Phabeni get to meet Fishon? God bless all the elephants humans and both Khanysia and Phabeni too. Love, Sue M. Khanysia eating her sweet potatoes and pellets is still so precious along with her milk bottles. How much longer will she drink those? Sweet Jabu and baby getting to know each other. Beautiful boys. And just like any baby, naps are essential. 🩵🐘🩵🐘🩵🐘🩵🐘

Jabu is smart, he knows when he comes where the baby is he'll get all the extra good food so he's gonna be there come rain or shine everyday! Given the size of Pinky now, Beni will be huge in short order, all the Elle's at Herd get top notch care, they are the lucky ones.

The very first video I watch each and every morning one pops up! Phabeni is still adjusting to his new environment and seems to prefer the men carers. Love the idea of leaving the carers clothing to prevent stress. God Bless.
