@Arthur - It'd be great to see a direct comparison between the TT and the 7artisans. They're both 6 elements in 5 groups and I think it's plausible they're using the exact same optical formula, so for me it would come down to features (TT has 7 blades, an aperture ring and is smaller, 7 has 6 blades, metal build, and better AF?).

The one thing that made your reviews stand out was the side by side comparisons between photos of the reviewed lens with comparable other options. Your setup for these comparions is great and it helped me more than once to make an informed buying decision. Please bring it back!!! :)

Oh boy I recently bought the TTArtisan version because the 7artisans didn't have AF yet :D seeing this I think I still prefere it for the smaller build size. But I just live these dirt cheap budget lenses. Are they perfect? No. Will anyone of my friends ever notice its not a sony GM? Also no :D I love the character these have, I think my time trying out analog made me appreciate them so much more. And my camera never has been this glued to my side than with this small pancake lens. Thank you for taking your time to review these lenses that get overlooked by many :)

What a deal! I'll have to buy this for my friend. I use a signa 30mm 1.4 and I must say the more I use this focal length on apsc I'm really starting to the like 40mm. Feels like a great everyday lens for capturing the scene and getting bokeh for portraits. Thanks for your great and honest reviews

I got the TTArtisan 27mm F2.8 recently, mostly because of how small it is, so I can use my a6400 has an EDC. the photo quality actually really impressed me. My other main lens is the Sony 16-55mm F2.8 G.

I'm very curious about the Viltrox 20mm F2.8 on an APS-C body. I know it's full frame by design but at that price even with the crop factor, I'm intrigued to see how well it could perform
@ikorolevna6 ай бұрын
I have it on the a6400. It's not bad, the 30mm equivalent isn't as easy to use as 25mm (somewhere around 37mm equivalent) but nice for some street style photography. 2.8 was getting me enough light even in a dim restaurant. The awesome thing about it, though, that it's very light and compact especially with the small body of a6400

Hi. I'm looking for a discreet lens for street photography. I realize it's 27mm so not as wide as the Sony 16mm or 20mm pancake but do you think it is better than the Sony lenses? Quality is important as I like to print large. I have a Sigma 16mm but it's a large lens and very obvious.Thanks for the video.

The Viltrox 75mm (which I bought following your review 😊) is my new favorite portrait lens. Now I’m not _really_ looking to get a 27mm one, but we’re all frisky here. If I _was_ to look for one, how would you stack the Viltrox lens to this one? From the video it looks like you like it less, but by how much, and in which dimensions?
@ArthurR6 ай бұрын
The Viltrox 27mm is, optically, and physically, what a top-level g-master lens would be like for APSC. It’s bigger, heavier, and a lot more expensive but it feels and is more special. Like a scalpel versus a good butter knife.
@mcouthon6 ай бұрын
@@ArthurR Wow, sounds like a big difference! What would you use it for? Mostly street with a little bit of portraiture? Also, how would you compare it (the Viltrox, that is) to Sony's 16-55 G?
@toomanyhobbies4003 ай бұрын
Dustin Abbott has a more in depth review of the optical quality and personality of this lens. It seems the optics are a little better on the 7Artisan vs the TTArtisan lens (other than the flaring), but I like having the pancake style and aperature ring of the TT model. However, the 7T has a 52mm filter size that you could more easily share with other lenses.
@busymamatips14754 ай бұрын
I have been using my canon EF-S 24mm with a metabones adapter for Sony. This one seems like a smaller and lighter alternative but I feel the canon is optically superior. Any thoughts?

Please compare this to the TTArtisan, I have a Sony A6000 and want a compact prime lens for up coming travel and hiking. Looking at this budget because I'm not sure how into I'll get into photography. I just want to take nice photos of landscapes, streets and portraits without breaking the bank and spending $350+AUD. I can get either 7artisans or TT for around $200AUD

Can't wait for a dirty cheap alternative for the Sony 11mm f1.8. A small 10-12mm f2-2.8 that lands ~20mm ff equivalent with active stabilization using the a6700. Something cheaper than that Samyang one.

@molybdnum6 ай бұрын
The TTArtisan is slightly smaller and lighter + it has a manual aperture ring. Optically, I'm not sure. TT and 7 both have the same optical diagram on their material for the respective lenses, but they also have different MTF charts and reviewers either haven't directly compared or seem to think the 7 is sharper in the center.

I think the TTArtisans is a better bet, it has an aperture ring which on my a5100 is a big plus in its favour over this one. I agree the images are a bit flat looking.
@sebastianaballay19886 ай бұрын
Hi, I'm also looking for a street lens on a 5100. Do you think it's better to have an aperture ring? Can you use aperture priority with the manual aperture ring?
@toomanyhobbies4002 ай бұрын
@@sebastianaballay1988 On my A6000 you can use the aperture ring in aperture priority mode. When my Viltrox 23mm f1.4 lens stopped communicating with the A6000 body, the only way I could control the aperature was with the lens ring. Sure glad the lens had one. I still use the lens because the autofocus still works.

@yellahbe5 ай бұрын
One thing is for sure. This newer lens from 7artisans supports phase detect and continuous eyefocus in the entire frame. With the older Sigma you'll be limited for the absolute center for those features (not really usable). The Sigma is smaller and lighter though. Auto-focus will be a toss up.
